The Texas Rangers picked up the 5-2 win over the Seattle Mariners this evening, led by the effort of LHP Kason Gabbard . In his sixth start of the season, Gabbard pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs (both earned) on five hits with one walk and two strikeouts.

Kason Gabbard returned to the big leagues for the start tonight and he was able to last 3.2 innings before having to leave the game after allowing two hits and four walks, though the Mariners failed to push a run across the plate. In truth, Gabbard was removed from the game because he injured his leg when Richie Sexson charged the mound after Gabbard threw one up an in.

Kason Gabbard (back) was activated from the the DL on Thursday as the team optioned A.J. Murray to Triple-A, according to the Associated Press.

Kason Gabbard gave up one run in four innings on Saturday in a rehab start with Double-A Frisco, according to the AP. Gabbard threw just 30 pitches in the first three innings but needed 35 more to finish the fourth, when he walked three batters and forced in a run. Gabbard said he became a little fatigued in his final inning. He did register six strikeouts and said, "I was happy with my outing."

Kason Gabbard has been throwing off flat ground since going on the DL for his stiff back, and is expected to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to The Dallas Morning News. If that goes favorably, he will make a rehab start on Saturday, likely for Double-A Frisco.
