Yunel Escobar is close to returning to the Braves' lineup, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Escobar said that most of the swelling in his left index finger was gone on Sunday, and he said he will be ready to return on Tuesday. Manager Bobby Cox stated that Escobar's status will be decided after he is evaluated again in Washington (the team starts a two-game series against the Nationals on Tuesday).
