Cameron Maybin hit his fifth home run of the season for Double-A Carolina on Sunday.

The Marlins are being patient with Cameron Maybin. Even if they have more outfield injuries, the club wants Maybin to stick in the minors and gather valuable at-bats, MLB.com reports. There isn't a known timetable for his ascension to the majors, which means the talented prospect mainly has fantasy value only in keeper leagues.

Cameron Maybin had a tough day at the plate against Houston on Monday as he went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts, lowering his spring average to .190. This is why he is going to start the season in Double-A.

Cameron Maybin will start the year in CF in Double-A and not with the Marlins, this according to the Sun Sentinel. "We still see him as the center fielder of the future," president of Larry Beinfest said. "He just needs to refine a few things and needs additional at-bats at the minor league level to work through some of those things, and then hopefully he'll be our center fielder for a long time." This was probably the best choice as Maybin is still extremely raw and could certainly benefit from some time in the minors. Those of you in mixed leagues should consider dropping him immediately, though those of you in NL Only leagues may consider holding on to him if you have space on your roster.

The Fish have been very clear about how they are handling center fielder Cameron Maybin this spring, very carefully, according to Fox Sports. In all likelihood, Maybin will open the season in the minors, with Cody Ross or Alejandro De Aza starting in center. Skipper Fredi Gonzalez said he might not decide until the final days of camp. Fantasy owners should be patient with Maybin and remember that just because a player starts the season on the farm, doesn't mean they will be there long. Maybin is worth waiting on.
