Cameron Maybin was sent to Florida Tuesday along with Andrew Miller in a trade that netted the Tigers Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis. Maybin, who struggled in his brief big-league stint in 2007, hitting just .143 in 49 at-bats, could open the 2008 season as the Marlins' starting center fielder, although he could also benefit from some more time in the minors.

Cameron Maybin hasn't played in the Arizona Fall League in more than a week due to a slight left shoulder strain, and it's unclear if he'll be able to return at all, according to the Detroit Free Press. On the bright side, an MRI exam on the shoulder revealed he doesn't need surgery, so this doesn't appear to be that serious of an issue.

Cameron Maybin is expected to miss one week of Arizona Fall League games due to a slight left shoulder strain, according to the Detroit Free Press. He suffered the injury while swinging a bat on Monday. At this point, it appears as though the Tigers are just taking the cautious approach with the youngster, so this shouldn't be a problem heading into next year.

Manager Jim Leyland plans to start Cameron Maybin in center some against left-handers when Curtis Granderson doesn't start. Maybin has made all six of his starts for the Tigers in left and has played only a few innings in center, his natural position. This could mean that eventually Maybin will be the team's center fielder and Granderson the left fielder, but Leyland made it clear that he won't be making that move on a permanent basis yet. "I'm not going to make Maybin the center fielder and move Granderson to left, because it's not the time for it now," the manager said in the Detroit Free Press.

Cameron Maybin had a forgettable debut in the majors Friday, going 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. Maybin also had a spotty night in left field, for what it's worth.

In a surprise move, the Tigers called up Cameron Maybin to the big leagues on Friday, according to the AP. Maybin, who had just been promoted to Double-A on August 10, batted a combined .316 with 14 homers, 53 RBI and 25 steals between Rookie ball and High- and Double-A. He played primarily center field in the minors, but he could see time in left with Detroit.

The Tigers have promoted top prospect Cameron Maybin to Double-A. "We've talked about Maybin moving up to Double-A this year, and we feel that he has progressed enough that the timing is right," general manager Dave Dombrowski told the Detroit Free Press. Maybin, considered one of the top outfield prospects in baseball, hit .304 with 10 homers and 44 RBI at Class A before his promotion.
