Manny Parra was brilliant for five innings on Saturday as he held the Giants without a hit before he eventually allowed three hits and two runs in 5.1 innings. In picking up his first major league victory, Parra stuck out seven batters, and even if the Giants batting order resembles a Triple-A lineup, you still have to be impressed by the way the youngster dominated on this day.

Manny Parra has earned the fifth spot in the rotation to open the season. He could be booted back to the minors when Yovani Gallardo returns from knee surgery. "There’s not going to be a time, come a week from today, when there’s not going to be pressure. You’ve got to really evaluate the way he’s handling that."
