Manager Ron Gardenhire has stated that Kevin Slowey will remain in the starting rotation for the rest of the season, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. This news means that Boof Bonser will likely stay in the bullpen. Slowey has a bright future, but he's been hit hard during his time in the big leagues this year, and there's no reason to take a chance on him in the final week.

The Twins optioned Kevin Slowey to Triple-A Rochester on Thursday, according to the AP. He struggled during his time in the big leagues, holding a 5.84 ERA in seven starts. Carmen Cali was recalled to take Slowey's spot on the roster.

"I'm certainly elated," Slowey told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. "It's what you dream of, to pitch at the highest level. It's kind of surreal. I hope it doesn't knock me over on Friday." Slowey is 6-2 with a 1.54 ERA at Triple-A.

Kevin Slowey is the most likely candidate to replace Ramon Ortiz in the Twins starting rotation, according to the AP. In nine Triple-A starts this year, Slowey is 6-2 with a 1.54 ERA with 57 Ks and just five walks in nine starts, spanning 64 innings.

Kevin Slowey tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings for Triple-A Rochester Thursday, allowing just three hits and no walks while striking out nine. Slowey hasn't given up an earned run in two starts this year, allowing just six hits and no walks while striking out 11 in 11 2/3 innings. He should make his Twins debut at some point this year.
