The Mets may pass on any deals prior to the trade deadline, and will reportedly promote and improve from within the organization, according to the NY Post. They are considering Fernando Martinez an option for the outfield, and they like either Bobby Parnell or Eddie Kunz as an upgrade for the bullpen.

Fernando Martinez will be out of action for three weeks due to a strained right hamstring, according to the Press and Sun-Bulletin. Martinez sustained the injury while stealing second base in the second inning of Wednesday night's game against New Britain. He underwent an MRI with Mets team doctors in New York on Friday morning.

Fernando Martinez left Thursday's game for Double-A Binghampton after feeling a little "pop" in his right hamstring while stealing second base, according to the NY Daily News. He is expected to undergo an MRI today. Manager Mako Oliveras said, "Right now I just hope it's not serious, especially the way he's been playing."

Fernando Martinez, widely considered the MetsÂ’ best prospect, went 0-for-5 on Tuesday at Double-A and is now batting .136. This would be a red flag except for the fact that Martinez is only 19-years-old and already at Double-A. The Mets could demote him to High-A if the struggles continue, but that hardly blemishes his high stock as a hitting prospect.
