The trade of Jason Kendall to the Cubs on Monday means Kurt Suzuki will now takeover the starting catching duties for the A's, according to the AP. Suzuki is hitting .269 with two homers and four RBI in 26 at-bats for Oakland.

The A's recalled Kurt Suzuki from Triple-A Sacramento Sunday. Suzuki replaces Adam Melhuse, who was traded to Texas Saturday, on the roster. He was hitting .280 with three homers and 27 RBI at Sacramento. Manager Bob Geren would like to get Suzuki at least one start per week, according to the AP. "We want to give him some experience here so he can learn the league," Geren said. "We will get him in some games."
