The Blue Jays called up Curtis Thigpen from Triple -A, where he was hitting .285 with three homers and 20 RBI in 179 at-bats. "We want to give Thigpen a little look here and see what we got," Blue Jays manager John Gibbons told the AP. Gibbons plans to give Thigpen at least two starts per week behind the plate. He could see some time at first base, as well.

The Blue Jays optioned Curtis Thigpen to Triple-A Syracuse Sunday. The move was made to clear a roster spot for Lyle Overbay, who is expected to rejoin the team after the break. Overbay has been on the 15-day disabled list since June 3, when he broke his right hand, according to the AP. Thigpen hit .270 in 37 at-bats with the Jays.

The Blue Jays recalled Curtis Thigpen from Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday. He was hitting .299 with three homers and 16 RBI there. Thigpen should remain with the team until Gregg Zaun returns to action.
