Working his last start of the spring, Jesse Litsch went long and showed plenty of promise as the Blue Jays earned a 6-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Litsch pitched seven full innings today, allowing just two runs on two hits with only one walk and two strike outs. Litsch has been considered a "lock" for a rotation spot for several weeks, but today's outing shows he could be due for a nice season on the mound.

Litsch, battling for the fifth spot in the Jays rotation this spring, will need to turn things around quickly to avoid a demotion to the bullpen or the minors. According to The Star, Jays starting pitcher Gustavo Chacin is not in contention for the teams fifth-starter slot. Meaning, if B.J. Ryan optimists are correct, and he can begin the season as the team's closer, the final starting role is between Casey Janssen and Jesse Litsch . The report mentions that the decision on which pitcher will fill out the back of the rotation, it won't depend on performance this spring. It will be made via internal debate.
