The Mets picked up their 2006 option on the contract of Steve Trachsel on Monday, according to the AP. In six starts last season, Trachsel went 1-4 with a 4.14 ERA. Back surgery prevented him from making his 2005 debut until August 26.

Trachsel is being sent to make another start for Triple-A Norfolk, most likely tomorrow at Toledo. "It's just a matter of right now our rotation's pretty set," Mets manager Willie Randolph said. "Jae Seo has been throwing the ball well and we're not going to go to a six-man rotation right now so the math is easy. It can't hurt him to continue to throw and if we see a fit he'll be ready to go. Throwing in Triple-A right now is better than throwing a simulated game on the side."
