Luis Mendoza threw a bullpen session on Friday and had no problem with the blister that forced him out of his rehab start on Wednesday, according to the Star-Telegram. It was also a finger blister than landed him on the DL at the start of the season. This blister isn't believed to be as severe this time and Mendoza will make another rehab start on Sunday.

He pitched 7.1 innings for Triple-A Oklahoma in a 6-1 win over Nashville on Monday, and only allowed one run in the first inning and induced 14 ground-ball outs with only four flyouts. He will be activated from the DL and said, "I had good command and my secondary pitches are getting better. I'm excited. I can't wait for Saturday." His fantasy stock is back on the rise with this news.

Luis Mendoza threw in a simulated game on Wednesday, according to the Dallas Morning News. He threw around 65 pitches in four innings, and said he had no problems with the blistered area of his ailing finger. After the session he stated, "I'm ready for my next start. I get this thing every spring training, but once I get it fixed, I don't have any more problems. I was able to finish off all my pitches in the simulated game." This is good news and Mendoza remains on target to return to the Rangers starting rotation on April 12.

With spring training winding down and the opportunity to earn a spot in the starting rotation for the Texas Rangers dwindling, Luis Mendoza hit the mound and put forth a strong performance against the Oakland Athletics. Before today, Mendoza had allowed nine runs on nine hits through 6 2/3 innings. Today, he stepped up and made a strong case for the final spot in the rotation.
