The Padres have sent Rule 5 pick Callix Crabbe back to the Brewers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. The Padres designated Crabbe for assignment last weekend, giving them 10 days to trade him or have him clear waivers. After he cleared waivers, however, the rules state that San Diego had to offer him back to Milwaukee for half the $50,000 draft price. The Brewers decided to reacquire Crabbe and have assigned him to Triple-A Nashville

Callix Crabbe will likely spell Kevin Kouzmanoff at third base during the Padres' upcoming series against the Astros, according to the North County Times. Crabbe notably started at shortstop on Saturday in place of Khalil Greene. Kouzmanoff is the only remaining Padres player who has played in every game so far, and the team wants to give some rest this week.

Rule 5 pick Callix Crabbe will compete for the second base job in spring training, GM Kevin Towers told the San Diego Union-Tribune. Crabbe can play multiple positions and could also stick around as a utilityman. "He's a nice little player," Brewers scouting director Jack Zduriencik said. "He's a pretty good little hitter, has got surprising power. He just does a lot of nice things. There's not a jump-out tool."
