The White Sox have reinstated Alexei Ramirez from the restricted list Tuesday, allowing the Cuban defector to return to the team after skipping a weekend series in Toronto, according to the Miami Herald. The 26-year-old, who was a former member of Cuba's national team, would likely have had visa problems traveling between Canada and the United States, so he remained in Chicago during the team's four-game series in Toronto.

Alexei Ramirez is set to come off the restricted list on Tuesday and will rejoin the White Sox for their series against the Twins in Chicago, according to manager Ozzie Guillen, notes MLB.com. "Right now, yes," Guillen said. "He should be back." Ramirez was unable to travel with the team to Toronto because of problems with his work visa that would have prevented him from re-entering the United States if he left the country.

I think he's been playing good everywhere we play him. I think he should be the centre-fielder," Guillen said. "The way he played centre field, he should be. I think he should be the center-fielder The way he played centre field, he should be." Ramirez is scheduled to start in center field on opening day.

I think he earned a spot in the lineup,” Guillen said. “I think he’s been playing good everywhere we play him.” Ramirez was 2-for-4 with an RBI Friday and also threw a runner out at the plate. “I think he should be the center fielder,” Guillen said. “The way he played center field, he should be.” Guillen said Wednesday that Nick Swisher would play center while Owens was out, so the manager is definitely sending some mixed messages. Alexei Ramirez had a big day at the plate against Milwaukee on Wednesday as he went 2-for-4 with four RBI, with all four runs coming on a grand slam off of Ben Sheets. He now has 17 RBI this spring and this was another strong outing for him as he battles for playing time, and ultimately a starting gig.

Alexei Ramirez had four hits on Thursday as he attempts to earn the White Sox starting spot at second base. Ramirez also scored three runs and had an RBI in the game. Ramirez will need a big spring to hold off Juan Uribe and Danny Richar for the second base gig, but a few more days at the plate like this will certainly thrust him squarely into the team's plans this season.
