Armando Benitez has been promoted from Triple-A Syracuse, according to globeandmail.com. Jeremy Accardo has been placed on the DL due to a right forearm strain, and Benitez has been brought in to cover his spot on the roster.

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran pitcher Armando Benitez to a minor league contract, according to The Star. Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi said this about the 35-year old reliever, " He hasn't got in shape, but we're going to keep stockpiling as many arms as we can. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. We're not looking for a closer."
