Jed Lowrie is in Saturday's starting lineup at short and the expectation is that he will get the majority of the playing time at the position in the coming weeks, according to the Providence Journal. "I want to play this kid a little bit," said Terry Francona, "because I'm excited. He's steady and has good at-bats."

Infielder Jed Lowrie has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtuckett, according to the Providence Journal. He was brought in as Julio Lugo may have suffered a slight tear in his right quad during battle on Friday, which would send him to the DL.

Jed Lowrie not only started on Wednesday for the Red Sox to give Dustin Pedroia a day off, he has endeared himself to manager Terry Francona who said that even when Alex Cora is activated from the DL Lowrie will stay with the team, according to MLB.com. "He's done a great job of playing a couple times a week, and not letting his swing get long, making the plays, trying to listen," Francona said.

Jed Lowrie is penciled in to start at second base for the Red Sox on Sunday, according to the Providence Journal. Dustin Pedroia has played in all 19 games for Boston so far, and has earned a day off.
