Juan Gonzalez has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League in an attempt to prove he's still able to help a major league team, according to Newsday. "Juan is making a smart decision for himself and his baseball career," Ducks owner Frank Boulton said. "We stand ready to get him where he wants to go."

The Kansas City Star reports that Juan Gonzalez told El Nuevo Dia, a newspaper in Puerto Rico, that he is drawing interest from the Cubs, White Sox and Red Sox. Gonzalez suffered a season-ending hamstring injury after his only at-bat last year, and he played in only 33 games in 2004.
