Lou Piniella, the new manager of the Cubs, has stated that he expects his new team to strongly pursue Alex Rodriguez over the offseason, according to ESPN.com. The Yankees have stated that they have no intention of trading A-Rod, but of course, that doesn't mean they wouldn't deal him if they got the right offer. Rodriguez has a no-trade clause and could veto any deal, but he does have a close relationship with Piniella, so he may be willing to waive it to go to the Windy City.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman said that trading Alex Rodriguez was not part of his offseason plan. "I fully expect him to be here," Cashman said Tuesday. "We're going to figure this thing out together." Cashman did say that he received a number of inquiries about A-Rod before the trading deadline.
