Teixeira leaves twinbill opener with back spasms
Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves first baseman Mark Teixeira left the opener of Monday's doubleheader against Pittsburgh with back spasms.

Teixeira was already 0-for-2 when he did not take the field for the bottom of the fourth inning during a cold, damp day in Pittsburgh.

Greg Norton took his place at first base.

Jair Jurrjens will work on short rest and start for the Braves on Friday. He threw 69 pitches in the first half of a doubleheader on Monday. "Sixty-nine pitches is nothing," manager Bobby Cox tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Braves dropped Kelly Johnson from first to seventh in the batting order on Tuesday. Yunel Escobar and Mark Kotsay are now hitting in the top two spots. "Kotsay's been hot, and Escobar's hitting over .300 with an on-base percentage around .400," manager Bobby Cox explains to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "And I think it will give Kelly a chance to drive in some runs down in the order."

Mark Teixeira hopes to play on Wednesday. He tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his back felt "much better" on Tuesday. Teixeira was forced out of the lineup on Monday due to back spasms.
