Red Sox activate Cora Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - The Red Sox activated infielder Alex Cora
off the 15-day disabled list prior to Sunday's 9-8 loss to the Twins.
Cora, who had been out since April 9 with a sore right elbow, had three hits
and started at shortstop Sunday night, making him 6-for-7 in four games this
season.
In a corresponding move, the Red Sox optioned infielder Jed Lowrie to Triple-A

Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez was held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's 9-8 loss against Minnesota due to a sore right hamstring. The Red Sox are batting .336 with 33 doubles, 16 home runs and 70 runs scored over their last 10 games. They have scored at least five runs in each of those games and have a record of 7-3 over that stretch.
Tim Wakefield's knuckleball was everywhere on Sunday night, and the right-hander didn't look anything like the pitcher that was 7-3 with a 3.95 ERA in his career versus the Twins. Wakefield allowed seven runs (six earned) on seven hits in just 2.2 innings on Sunday, the earliest he's been knocked out of a start since June 20, 1997, at Detroit, when he lasted just 2.1 innings.
The Padres acquired Bryan Corey from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, the Ticker reports. The Red Sox designated Corey for assignment on April 30.
