Ramirez out of Boston lineup Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez was
held out of the lineup for Sunday's game against Minnesota due to a sore right
hamstring.
Ramirez is hitting .301 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 37 games this season.
He's three homers shy of 500 for his career.
The Padres acquired Bryan Corey from the Red Sox on Sunday in exchange for a player to be named later or cash, the Ticker reports. The Red Sox designated Corey for assignment on April 30.
Bartolo Colon worked three innings on Saturday night. It was his first start since coming off the minor league DL due to a strained oblique. Colon threw 49 pitches in the start, and the Sox hope he can work up to 76 pitches in his next outing, the Providence Journal reports.
Curt Schilling threw "40-ish" tosses from 60 feet on Saturday. He could extend his range on Monday. "There's been no period of time during this where there's a setup goal and potentially fail," Schilling tells the Boston Globe. "We're just taking it as it comes." He is trying to rehab a damaged right shoulder.
