Byrd, Tribe continue pitching dominance
Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - Paul Byrd baffled the Oakland offense for 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball, as the Cleveland Indians blanked the Athletics, 4-0 in a pitching duel at Progressive Field.

Byrd (2-3) tossed just 92 pitches -- 64 for strikes -- while allowing just five hits with no walks and seven strikeouts in Cleveland's fourth win in its last five games.

The Indians starters have been terrific in the past four games. Against Toronto, Fausto Carmona and Cliff Lee each pitched nine scoreless innings in a doubleheader split on Monday, and Aaron Laffey... More...

Victor Martinez appeared to injure his left quad in a play at the plate on Tuesday night, but he stayed in the game, the Cleveland Plain Dealer notes.

Ryan Garko, 1B

Tuesday 5/13, 9:27 PM CT

The Indians pulled the 4-0 win over Oakland this evening and it was 1B Ryan Garko providing the comfort in that final score. Garko went 1-for-4 at the plate, the one hit coming in the form of a three-run homer in the 8th inning to secure the win.

Travis Hafner, DH

The Indians didn't shock the world with a offensive explosion, but the hits needed were there to secure the 4-0 shutout victory over Oakland. DH Travis Hafner seems to have responded to the slight move up in the order, going 2-for-4 at the dish with one RBI and one run scored.
