Updating a previouis report, it appears Ty Wigginton will miss at least a week after pulling his groin trying to beat out a throw to first in the first inning of Saturday night's game. At this point, there is no timetable for a return, but manager Cecil Cooper surmised it could take eight or 10 days, maybe longer, before Wigginton is back on the field according to MLB.com.

Roy Oswalt threw a complete game one-hitter against a hot Rockies club on Saturday. He allowed no runs while striking out six, walking two and hitting two batters. He threw 102 pitches and gave up only a leadoff single to Brad Hawpe in the fifth inning.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Ty Wigginton left Saturday night's game against the Colorado Rockies in the first inning with a left groin strain. He’s listed as day-to-day. Wigginton, batting leadoff for the first time since Aug. 22, hit a chopper to Rockies second baseman Clint Barmes. Wigginton took a long final stride as he touched the bag, but couldn’t beat the throw and hobbled off the field.

Hunter Pence could be a sleeper for a Gold Glove, as he is tied for the major league lead with 15 outfield assists and is yet to make an error, according to the Houston Chronicle. Pence said, "It’s something I like to focus on and take some pride in (playing good defense). The award would be an honor. I don’t go out there like I deserve a Gold Glove or this and that. I try to go out there and play the game the right way and help my team win."

Manager Cecil Cooper and the Astros' staff have been pleased with infielder David Newhan, and the club is looking for ways to get him more at-bats, according to the Houston Chronicle. Newhan has started seven of the last nine games at second base, but Cooper is considering moving him to the outfield for the first time this year. Cooper stated, "He’s making plays and getting hits. He’s done a good job. A lot of it is getting the opportunity. He’s getting to play more. He’s making some eyes go open a little bit, and we’ll keep giving him a chance. He can run, he’s a good defender and can steal some bases."
