Yao Ming, who is trying to bounce back from a stress fracture in his left foot, scored 11 points in 12 minutes of play with the Chinese national team in an Olympic tuneup Thursday, according to the Houston Chronicle. Yao helped his club to a 96-72 win over the Serbian squad in the four-team Stankovic Cup tournament, and he walked off the court after the game without speaking to reporters.

Yao Ming returned to the court Thursday (with the Chinese national team) for the first time in almost six months, according to the AP. He scored six points in seven minutes of action, and appeared rusty, as this was his first game since suffering a stress fracture in February.

Yao Ming is aiming to play in the Stankovic Cup this week, Reuters reports. It is a four-team, round-robin tournament that serves as a warm-up for the Olympics. "Yao will definitely go to the Stankovic Cup in Hangzhou, and the chance of him playing is very high," Hu Jiashi, vice chief of Chinese Basketball Association, says. China will face Serbia on Thursday. Ming is coming back from a stress fracture in his left foot.

Yao Ming is shooting for a July return to participate on China's national team, according to the Houston Chronicle. He said tests on Tuesday indicated that his recovery is on schedule and his left foot is 80% healed. The remaining 20% takes a full year to heal, and he said, "I've now done everything I can possibly do to get fit. In terms of being basketball fit, the only way to do that is to play games."

Despite earlier reports that he was ready to return to the court, Yao Ming has not been medically cleared by his doctors to return from his injured foot, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He's doing great," agent John Huizinga said. "The reports that he's been cleared to play are not correct. The checkups have been very good. He had one today. But it's much too early for him to be cleared. He has a series of check points to continue to go through."

Yao Ming informs the Shanghai Daily that he remains on pace to play a couple exhibition games before the Olympic opener on August 10. The center is rehabbing a stress fracture in his left foot. He underwent surgery in March and began running last week. Yao hopes to scrimmage in a couple weeks.

Yao Ming traveled with the Rockets to Utah in order to support his teammates. He reiterated that his rehab from a stress fracture in his left foot is going well. "It's better than I thought," Yao tells the Houston Chronicle. "They told me that I would be using crutches for 10 weeks. But this is the eighth week, and I'm walking without crutches."

Yao Ming will be allowed to lose the crutches he has been on since he had surgery on his left foot, this according to the Houston Chronicle. "I still need to wear the walking boot for a couple weeks, but at least I can walk by myself. My hands are not busy anymore."

The Rockets will be the only team missing its starting center when their first-round series against the Utah Jazz begins on Saturday. The Rockets will be without Yao Ming and point guard Rafer Alston making the Rockets all the more dependent on All Star shooting guard Tracy McGrady.

The Houston frontcourt hasn't missed a beat since losing Yao Ming to a foot injury. On Wednesday, power forward Luis Scola and his back-up Chuck Hayes both pulled down 12 rebounds in the Rockets' 83-75 win over the Hawks. The teams 20th consecutive win.

Yao Ming expects to be ready to play for China in the Olympics, according to the AP. "The surgery was very successful and I'll start physical recovery very soon," he wrote. "I'll do whatever I can to overcome the difficulty and play for China in Olympics and be in my best form. "I'll see you in the Olympics. Thanks, everybody." Yao is recovering from surgery that repaired a stress fracture in his foot. He's basically going to be the face of China at the Olympics, so he'll face incredible pressure to play. Let's hope that doesn't set him back for the 2008-09 fantasy season.

Yao Ming has opted for surgery to repair the stress fracture in his left foot, this according to the Houston Chronicle. The decision wasn't a hasty one as Yao met with several specialists to review his options. The surgery will be performed by Rockets team physician Dr. Tom Clanton on Monday. Ming is expected to be fully recovered for the start of the 2008-09 season.

Yao Ming will miss the remainder of the season and post-season with a stress fracture in his left foot. The Rockets center was diagnosed with the fracture after Mondays practice. According to the Houston Chronicle the Rockets plan to announce a diagnosis at 1 p.m. this afternoon.

Yao Ming had 16 points and 14 rebounds Tuesday night as Houston won their ninth straight game 93-85 over Cleveland. Ming's double-double came despite a poor shooting performance from the floor (3-for-17). His perfect night from the line (10-of-10) though, helped the Rockets hold off LeBron James and the Cavs.

Yao Ming scored 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds assisting the Rockets to their eighth straight win, a 89-87 victory over the Kings on Wednesday night. Ming hadn't recorded double-digit rebounds in his last two contests. The double-double came at just the right time as Houston collapsed in the fourth quarter, giving up an 18-point lead, but holding on for a squeaker over Sacramento.

Yao Ming led the Rockets, who never trailed, to a thrashing of the Hawks 108-89 on Saturday night. Ming scored 28 points and added nine rebounds in their 10th victory in 11 games. With or without Tracey McGrady in the lineup, Ming is an absolute monster in the middle. Ming posted a double-double in five of the past six games, not surprising considering he averages about 22 points and 11 boards a game.

Yao Ming missed Sunday's game due to an upper-respiratory infection. "He is just sick," Rockets coach Rick Adelman said, according to the Houston Chronicle. "He came in this morning not feeling good. We had our walk-through and he felt worse. The doctors looked at him, and they don't think it's worth the chance." He won't practice Monday and currently is listed as questionable for Tuesday's run with Golden State. We'll have to wait to see how quickly he recovers before finding out whether he'll be able to play tomorrow, but he should be back soon, regardless.

Yao Ming sat out the Sunday's game with an upper respiratory infection. He told team officials he felt sick when he arrived at the Toyota Center for a workout on Sunday morning, coach Rick Adelman said. "The doctors looked at him and they don't think it's worth the chance," Adelman said in the AP. "We'll just have to move on." It's not clear at this point if this will keep Yao out any longer, but we'll keep you posted.
