Lakers forward Luke Walton has undergone successful surgery to remove bone spurs and scar tissue as well as to clean cartilage debris in his right ankle, according to the Associated Press.

The Lakers indicated that Luke Walton needs right ankle surgery, according to the AP. Walton will undergo the operation Friday to remove bone spurs from his ankle. The procedure will be performed in Los Angeles by Dr. David Thordarson.

According to the Deseret News, Luke Walton, who didn't practice Monday due to an upper respiratory infection that limited his minutes to 13 in Game 1, did practice Tuesday, but said he "hit a wall" — and that he won't know how many minutes he'll be able to play tonight versus the Jazz.

Luke Walton scored all 17 of his points in the fourth quarter, long after the Lakers and Sonics game was decided as the team from LA emerged victorious 130-105. Walton hasn't had many big games this year, but tonight he was 8-for-11 from the field and grabbed five boards with four assists in just 23 minutes of action.

Luke Walton did not play against the Pistons Thursday night due to the hip pointer he sustained during Tuesday's tilt, according to the LA Times. "I thought I was going to be able to run it off, but every time I made a move, it got worse and worse," he said. "Even sneezing, laughing, those things hurt." If it's that bad, we may not see Walton in action for a while longer. Vladimir Radmanovic should continue to start if Walton remains out.
