The Heat have received several calls about the availability of Udonis Haslem, the Miami Herald reports. The assumption is that the club will draft power forward Michael Beasley later this month. The Heat may try to acquire a point guard in any trade.

Following yesterday's MRI that revealed a bone spur in his left ankle, Udonis Haslem and the Miami Heat have decided to proceed forward with arthroscopic surgery, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. He is expected to mis 3 to 4 weeks of play as a result. On the bright side, the NBA has granted Miami a waiver allowing the team to sign a player and go one spot above the league roster limit of 15 players. Coach Pat Riley announced the team will be signing a player to a 10-day contract on Thursday.

An MRI revealed that Udonis Haslem has a bone spur in his sprained left ankle, and he is considering undergoing surgery to fix the problem, according to the AP. "He still really is experiencing a lot of pain,” Heat coach Pat Riley said. "There’s an outside chance that he may have to have surgery, arthroscopic surgery to remove a spur. That’s where the discomfort is coming from." With just a month remaining in the season, surgery likely would end his campaign.

Udonis Haslem is reportedly suffering from sprains in two areas of his left foot and the nagging injury could force him to miss his 14th game of the season tonight against the Knicks, this according to the Sun-Sentinel. Coming into the season, Haslem had never sat out more than two games since becoming a full-time starter in 2004.

Miami forward Udonis Haslem will be absent from Wednesday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors because of a family emergency, according to the Associated Press. Haslem, who is averaging 11.9 points and 9.1 rebounds, is expected to rejoin the team in time for Friday’s home game with the Golden State Warriors. Haslem’s absence left Miami with nine available players against the Raptors.

Head coach Pat Riley told the Miami Herald that Haslem will ''probably'' start and occupy his usual power-forward spot. Udonis Haslem, who returned Saturday night in a Heat loss to the 76ers, was rusty in his first game since injuring himself against the Boston Celtics on Jan. 29. Haslem scored eight points on 4-of-9 shooting and grabbed nine rebounds in 30 minutes off the bench. The Miami Herald reports,''He showed the effects of being off for five games,'' coach Pat Riley said. ``But he made two really big jumpers in the end for us. He's gonna need some time.'' Riley added that the team's plan is to continue to bring the forward along slowly counting his minutes off the bench.

He took part in a full practice Tuesday and said his high-ankle sprain is about 85 percent healed. Haslem has missed eight games due to the injury but will be a fine source of boards upon his return.

Udonis Haslem received some good news when his ankle was removed from a walking boot on Monday according to the Sun Sentinel. Though he is progressing, HC Pat Riley said that Haslem is still a ways away from returning to the lineup. The upshot of this is that Shawn Marion will remain the team's power forward with Dorrell Wright at small forward. Once Haslem is healthy, look for the Heat to slide Marion back to the small forward position.
