Yahoo! Sports reports that Luol Deng has set an August 4th deadline to reach a long-term agreement with the Bulls. If a deal is not negotiated, he will take the one year qualifying offer of $4.5 million and become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. If that is the case, Deng is not expected to ever negotiate with the Bulls again.

With top pick Derrick Rose added at guard in Chicago, the Bulls are reportedly wasting no time in building the rest of the roster around their new leader, and that doesn't necessarily mean a trade, according to the Chicago Sun Times. General manager John Paxson spoke with reporters and, in closing, noted the team would be signing several new assistant coaches for head coach Vinny Del Negro and will also be meeting with the agents for guard Ben Gordon and forward Luol Deng to discuss contract terms.

Luol Deng continues to led the Chicago Bulls and hopes to be building towards a better tomorrow. Deng went 6-of-14 from the field, 3-of-4 from the three-point line, and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line to score 21 points.

Luol Deng put forth the top individual performance of the evening, but it was the lowly Miami Heat who prevailed with a 95-88 win over the Chicago Bulls. Deng went 9-of-11 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free-throw line to score 25 points, adding four rebounds and two assists to the stat line. This has been a rough season for the Bulls and Deng, the team’s best and most reliable offensive presence, has suffered as a result. We hope Chicago can get back on track and put Deng back in a position to make significant fantasy contributions next season.

Luol Deng led the slumping Bulls in Thursday's 102-80 loss to San Antonio scoring 18 points and registering seven rebounds. It's the 20th straight game that Deng has scored in double figures. His 17 points and nearly seven rebounds per game this season make him a solid fantasy option. The issue with Deng has been the 19 games he's missed to injury.

Luol Deng and Ben Gordon each scored 23 points to lead a balanced Bulls attack to a 107-96 victory over the Cavs. Gordon was solid from downtown as he hit 4 of 5 three pointer on the night. When Deng was on the court the Bulls outscored the Cavs by 22 points as he was a true leader in the victory.

Luol Deng had another sub par outing on Monday night as he scored just 10 points though he was able to grab nine rebounds in the Bulls loss. Over the past three games Deng has scored 10 points each time, well below his season long average of 17.3 points per games as he has struggled to put up the points since returning from a sore Achilles tendon.

Luol Deng practiced Thursday after returning to action on Wednesday. Interim coach Jim Boylan hinted that the 20-minute limit Deng had in that game could be increased for Friday's run with the Nugs, according to the Chicago Tribune. Deng racked up 13 points in 19 minutes Wednesday and apparently had no setbacks with his sore Achilles tendon.
February 20, 2008
Luol Deng returned to action Wednesday after missing 16 of the last 21 games with an Achilles injury. Deng didn't get many minutes (19), but he did contribute 13 points, albeit on 2-for-8 shooting. The important thing was that Deng looked healthy. He should be worked back into the starting lineup before too long.

Luol Deng will be a game-time call on Wednesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. He's still recovering from Achilles tendinitis and likely would see limited action if he plays.

Luol Deng, who has been out since Jan. 23, said he expects to undergo another MRI today on his left Achilles tendon, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Deng doesn't expect to be back until after the All-Star break, meaning he'll miss at least two more games. Whenever Deng does return, Bulls coach Jim Boylan may not immediately hand him his old starting role. ''For me, I just don't give the job back to somebody,'' Boylan said. ''Guys who have been out for extended periods of time, they have to work their way back in. We give them every opportunity to do that. The situation we're in is one where time is running out. After the All-Star break, we'll have 30 games left. It's time now to do everything we can to win.''

Bulls forward Luol Deng, who is fighting a nagging Achilles' injury, is expected to miss another one-to-three weeks of court time. Chicago's coaching staff have been verbal about not rushing the young forward. Chicago coach Jim Boylan said of the three "Did not play's" in Thursday win over the Warriors, Deng's left heel injury is the most serious. Starting guard Kirk Hinrich has bruised ribs and guard Ben Gordon has a sprained right wrist. Before Thursday's game, Boylan said he wouldn't be surprised if his club finishes its road trip at Utah on Saturday without all three injured starters.
February 3, 2008
Luol Deng had hoped to return from his ailing Achilles tendon before the Bulls' six-game road trip wraps up Feb. 9, but it looks like that's not going to be the case, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I think they're going to wait until we get back after the trip and take some more pictures and see what's what and move on from there," interim coach Jim Boylan said. It appears more likely that he won't be seen in game action until after the All-Star break, but we'll have a better idea following that next MRI.
February 2, 2008
Luol Deng rode a stationary bike and did some shooting on Friday, according to the Chicago Tribune. While, that's a positive step, Deng remains out indefinitely due to his sore Achilles tendon and may not play again until after the All-Star break.

Luol Deng returned to action on Sunday. He came off the bench, but he played nearly 30 minutes and racked up 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. It looks like he's recovered well from his sore Achilles tendon and probably will start the next game.
January 13, 2008
After Luol Deng took part in halfcourt, four-on-four action in practice Sunday, he said he was ready to roll for Sunday's game. However, trainer Fred Tedeschi said he wanted to wait to see how Deng's ailing Achilles tendon responds to the workout Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Tribune. It looks like he could be a game-time call, but the Bulls may lean towards being cautious with their young star.
January 12, 2008
Luol Deng practiced Thursday, but he was unable to even take part in the next morning's shootaround due to stiffness in his troublesome Achilles tendon. He also skipped the evening game. "We don't want him to have something that's going to linger," interim coach Jim Boylan said, according to the Chicago Tribune. "[Andres Nocioni] had that last year with his fascia in his foot. We managed his pain and it wore him down. We're trying to avoid that situation with Lu." In other words, expect the Bulls to hold him out of game action until the condition subsides, which means it's unlikely he'll be on the hardwood to ball on Sunday.

As expected, Luol Deng sat out of Friday's game to rest his sore Achilles tendon. An MRI taken Friday confirmed that he has tendinitis but no tears, according to the Chicago Tribune. There's a decent chance he'll skip Tuesday's game, too, which would give him a full week off before the Bulls' next game on Friday.

He underwent an MRI late Friday, and a timetable for how long he'll be sidelined should be announced on Saturday. Look for Andres Nocioni to start in place of Deng and try to work his way out of an ugly shooting slump.

Luol Deng left Thursday's game early in the second quarter with tightness in his left Achilles tendon, the AP reports. He's been dealing with the problem since Sunday; the team will have an MRI done on the area Friday.
