Six of the players from the Orlando Magic posted double-digit scoring totals this evening, but none managed to crack the 20-point benchmark as the team fell short in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series, losing to Detroit 91-86. Team leader center Dwight Howard shot just 4-of-8 from the field and a disappointing 6-of-15 from the free-throw line to score a lowly 14 points, and while he added 17 rebounds and three blocked shots to the effort, it was well short of the team's needs.

Orlando has won four of the five times that center Dwight Howard has scored at least 20 points.
May 10, 2008
The Detroit Pistons found their defense to be as effective as needed, putting the clamps on team leader Dwight Howard . The Orlando center shot just 3-of-12 from the field and garnered just one trip to the free-throw line (going 2-for-2) to score a paltry 8 points, dropping in a hard-fought 90-89 loss to the Detroit Pistons.

The Orlando Magic earned their first win over Detroit in the NBA playoffs this evening, and as we have come to expect, center Dwight Howard played a major role in the effort. Howard shot 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-7 from the free-throw line to score 20 points, adding 12 rebounds and a whopping six blocked shots to put the Magic in the win column for the first time in this series.

The Magic are still firing away from the perimeter. In fact, the way Orlando will get back in the Round 2 series is all about their outside game. Despite the presence of the NBA's best interior player in Dwight Howard, the Magic continue to be committed to a perimeter approach that is hurting them. Orlando has launched 41 three-point attempts over the first two games, hitting just 13 of them (31.7 percent).

The Magic's flight from Detroit to Orlando was diverted because of a mechanical problem, according to ESPN. Team spokesman Joel Glass says the plane landed in Cincinnati as a precaution late Monday. The Magic were trying to return home after a 100-93 loss to the Pistons in Game 2. No one was injured, the plane was serviced and the team spent the night in Cincinnati. The coaches and players were boarding Tuesday morning to return home.

Dwight Howard lead the Magic with 22 points and 18 rebounds on Monday night, but it wasn't enough as the Pistons defeated the Pistons by the score of 100-93.
May 5, 2008
Detroit took over Game 1 in the third quarter, when they finally realized that with Orlando's long range shooting coming up empty they could keep ratcheting up their physicality in the paint. Expect the Bad Boys to continue body up Dwight Howard , who finished with just 12 points and eight rebounds.
May 4, 2008

Dwight Howard had another 20-20 performance in Tuesday's win over the Raptors. The big man poured in 29 points, grabbed 20 rebounds, and added in one assists, one steal, and three blocks. He became the first player since Nate Thurmond in 1969 to managed a 20-20 line in two straight playoff games, according to the AP.

April 11, 2008
The Orlando Magic lost in disappointing fashion, 102-101 to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but the failure is not due to phenom center Dwight Howard . Howard went 8-of-13 from the field and 4-of-9 from the free-throw lie to score 20 points with 14 total rebounds and four assists to work as one of few players of note in this troubling loss.
April 9, 2008
Dwight Howard had 30 points and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Orlando Magic beat the Chicago Bulls 115-83 Wednesday night. Howard played with six stitches in his upper lip, the result of a collision in practice Tuesday with 6-foot-11 reserve Marcin Gortat. Howard recorded his NBA-leading 67th double-double, one short of Shaquille O'Neal's franchise record from the 1992-93 season.
April 5, 2008
Dwight Howard had one of his worst games of the season on Saturday as he scored a measly four points on 1-for-8 shotting for the Magic. Howard still contributed on the boards with 12, but when you score as many points as Adonal Foyle and fail to block a shot, you have to expect us to call you out Mr. Howard.
April 1, 2008
Dwight Howard was as efficient as ever in the Magic’s 97-98 loss to the New Orleans Hornets this evening, going 7-of-9 from the field and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line to finish with 17 points with an impressive 15 rebounds (all on the defensive end of the floor). Howard’s recent improvements at the charity stripe are both refreshing and somewhat alarming. If he keeps it up, his fantasy value will skyrocket next season.
March 29, 2008
Dwight Howard , after a few games of disappointing consequence, is starting to round back into form. Last night, he led the Orlando Magic to a much-needed 103-86 win over the Milwaukee Bucks, going 7-of-12 from the field and a surprising 11-of-14 from the free-throw line to score 25 points with 11 total rebounds. Over his past two games, Howard has shot a combined 17-of-30 from the field (56.7%) and 15-of-22 from the charity stripe (68.2%), touting 49 combined points and 32 combined rebounds. Fantasy owners were growing worried, but it appears that he is not only improving his normally-high scoring and rebounding totals, but his work at the free-throw line is nothing short of refreshing. That number has long been one of few points of negative connotation for the best big man in the NBA, and it appears (at least in the short term) he is getting much better.
March 22, 2008
In a disappointing effort for the big man, Dwight Howard scored just 11 points in Orlando’s 90-98 loss to Atlanta. Howard swiped 16 rebounds off the glass to ease the pain for some fantasy owners, but the notable lack of scoring in recent weeks is a major concern. Howard has just 27 COMBINED points in his last three games. He consistently grabs double-digit rebounds, but the scoring has got to improve.
March 19, 2008
The one-point loss was frustrating enough for Magic fans, falling to the Wizards 86-87, but watching the team's young phenom and leader flounder on offense was much more troubling. Dwight Howard failed to make a mark, going just 1-of-6 from the floor to end with three points. The 14 rebounds curbs the pain a bit for fantasy owners, but the inability to get going on offense is a rare sore spot on Howard's resume this season.
March 17, 2008
Dwight Howard led the Magic with 23 points and 13 rebounds in their 104-90 win over the Cavs. He also had two assists, two blocks, and a steal. That was his 14th double-double in a row.
March 14, 2008
Dwight Howard is expected to play Friday against what's left of the Heat's lineup, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The big fella missed practice Thursday with a bruised right thigh. If only he could hit a free throw, he'd be the best fantasy center out there.
March 12, 2008
Dwight Howard's magic season continues, posting his 57th double-double of the year with 22 points and 13 rebounds against the Clippers with a 110-88 win. Howard has been an absolute stud this season, the top big man in the game. Those fantasy owners that made the leap of faith on draft day have been fully rewarded for their dedication, and the sky is the limit from here.
March 10, 2008
Dwight Howard did his best Superman impression on Monday night as he scored a team-high 26 points while grabbing 16 boards for the Magic. Though they only won the game by 11 points, when Howard was on the court the Magic outscored the Hawks by 23 points.
March 8, 2008
Despite a troubling loss to the Golden State Warriors (104-95), Dwight Howard did his best to keep the Magic in the hunt, scoring 26 points with 12 rebounds and five blocks. Howard ranks as the best young big man in the league and these numbers, while nice, could be viewed as a bit disappointing from a fantasy aspect. The kid can do so much that anything less than excellence is a surprise.
March 5, 2008
Leading the Magic to a dominating 122-92 victory over the Wizards, Dwight Howard scored 20 points with 11 rebounds, according to the Associated Press. As fantasy owners with Howard in tow know, it's just another night at the office for the league's best up-and-coming big man.

Dwight Howard won the All-Star dunk contest on Saturday night. Howard opened with a perfect 50, but it wasn't his most memorable effort of the night. He later took off from near the free-throw line while donning a Superman outfit and performed a tricky slam that involved a bounce and a tap off the backboard. "I think the dunk contest is back," Howard tells the AP.
February 13, 2008
Dwight Howard, fresh off accepting the scorn of his coach, took out his anger on the Nuggets on Wednesday night scoring 23 points with 24 rebounds, nine on the offensive glass. Not many players can average 20.8 points and 11.0 rebounds over six games and be considered to be in a mild slump. Howard emphatically put an end to that talk tonight.
February 12, 2008
Magic coach Stan Van Gundy said he and Dwight Howard have "a little bit of conflict" that finally resulted Monday in the coach benching Howard for a two-minute stretch of a fairly tight game in the fourth quarter after the center said something he didn't like. Van Gundy wouldn't elaborate on what exactly was said. "That's going to be between Dwight and I, but his focus isn't where it needs to be," Van Gundy told the Orlando Sentinel. "I don't think right now we're on the same page, to be quite honest."
