Emeka Okafor's fast start may be related to losing 18 pounds, according to the AP. He's the top shot blocker in the league after two weeks, and he's also leading the Bobcats in rebounding. Okafor tried to bulk up prior to last season and it may have been a mistake. "He's quicker, and that's what made him," head coach Bernie Bickerstaff said Tuesday. "He was already strong, but he had quickness. He had the ability to guard (small forwards). He could guard anybody. But last year, with all the weight, he had no quickness. He was just basically an average guy."

Emeka Okafor, the first pick in Bobcats history and last year's rookie of the year, will miss the rest of the season due to his injured right ankle, according to the AP. The injury has led to severe tendinitis around the joint, forcing doctors to place the ankle in a soft cast on Tuesday that Okafor will wear for at least a month. Okafor originally sprained his ankle in a Dec. 19 win over Sacramento and has missed 36 games with the injury.

As expected, Emeka Okafor returned from his sprained right ankle last night. He came off the bench to score 21 points with eight boards in 35 minutes of action. However, he aggravated the injury in overtime and had to be carried off the court. X-rays were negative, but he'll have an MRI today. It appears he's going to be out for a while again.
