Delonte West developed a mysterious irritation in his left eye during the second half of Monday’s Game 4 in Cleveland against the Celtics, according to the Boston Herald. West visited an eye specialist in Boston and was cleared to play in Game 5 last night. West said, "They said it’s an irritation. All I can describe it like is the feeling of having something in your eye, and it’s constantly there. Things like that can ruin your whole day. I have ointments and all sorts of eye drops to help me get through the game, so it shouldn’t be a problem."

The Cavs finally jumped back into form, finding an impressive 108-84 win in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals over the Boston Celtics while LeBron James finally found a worthy running mate. Delonte West stepped up his game and served as the point guard the Cavs need to make noise in these NBA Playoffs, serving as the primary source of support for LeBron James and helping the Cavs secure a win in Game 4 of their playoff series with the Washington Wizards, 100-97, giving the Cavs a stout 3-1 series lead. West shot 7-of-12 from the field and a surprising 5-of-8 from three-point range to score 21 points.

April 19, 2008
The Cleveland Cavaliers entered the NBA Playoffs with one major question: Who is going to help LeBron James? After the 86-93 win over the Washington Wizards in Game 1, it appears center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and shooting guard Delonte West are going to stpe into the role. Ilgauskas shot just 7-of-17 from the floor but went a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, scoring 22 points with a team-high 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Delonte West shot a troubling 3-of-10 from the floor but also was perfect at the charity stripe, shooting 8-of-8 to finish with a total of 16 points, adding five rebounds, five assists, two steals, and two blocks.
April 5, 2008
Delonte West went 7-for-10 from the field on his way to 19 points for the Cavs. West hit three 3-pointers on the day with six rebounds and five assists, though that performance was somewhat mitigated by the fact that West turned the ball over five times. West has averaged 9.5 points and 4.7 assists over 21 games in Cleveland which is not quite the upward surge in production that was hoped for after his trade with the Sonics. Still, this is only his fourth season, so perhaps next season will bring the awaited breakout.

Delonte West scored 20 points and grabbed five rebounds in almost 36 minutes of action in his best scoring game since becoming a Cavalier. However, after posting 13 assists over two games, he was limited to just two on Wednesday night, which when coupled with three turnovers, somewhat dampens his performance.

In the second largest trade in league history, three teams moved 11 players. Cleveland received Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, Joe Smith and Ben Wallace. Chicago receives Larry Hughes, Drew Gooden, Cedric Simmons and Shannon Brown. The Sonics will receive Adrian Griffin, Donyell Marshall and Ira Newble according to a report on the AP. West will likely become the Cavs starting PG so his numbers figure to grow substantially from their current level (6.8 points, 3.2 assists).

Delonte West missed the team's Tuesday practice according to Seattle PI. Sonics coach P.J. Carlesimo told the paper that West's knee was bothering him and it wasn't good. The news on West makes it unlikely he will dress for Wednesday night's game against Utah.
