April 28, 2008
Jason Kidd won't be suspended for Game 5 in New Orleans after his flagrant takedown of Hornets' guard Jannero Pargo in Game 4, according to ESPN.com.
April 28, 2008
Jason Kidd could be looking at a suspension following his flagrant-2 foul and ejection on Sunday night, the Dallas Morning News reports. "It was just a hard foul," Hornets guard Chris Paul says, "but I don't think there's a reason for him to be suspended for the next game."
April 23, 2008
Jason Kidd realizes he is on the bad end of the matchup with Chris Paul, and he is looking to change things. "I have to do what I do best," Kidd tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I have to try to control the tempo and somehow try to get my fingerprints on the next 48 minutes of the game." He adds that the Mavs need to focus on defense before worrying about their offense.
April 19, 2008
Jason Kidd scored 11 points with nine rebounds and nine assists in the Mavericks Game 1 loss to the Hornets.
April 16, 2008
Jason Kidd picked up his 100th career triple-double in the Mavericks' 98-111 win over the New Orleans Hornets. Kidd shot 9-of-14 from the floor, 5-of-8 from three-point range, and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line to score 27 points, adding 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Mavs to victory in the season finale.
April 1, 2008
Jason Kidd scored a game-high 27 points in Monday's 93-86 win over the Clippers. He also generated four assists, three boards, four steals, one block, and hit 2-of-3 shots from long range. That was his highest point total of this season.
March 27, 2008
Jason Kidd had a strong night in a losing effort against Denver on Thursday night as he generated 19 points, 15 assists, four rebounds, and five steals. That was his highest scoring total since March 3, when he hit 19 again versus Utah.
March 6, 2008
Jason Kidd took only six shots on Thursday night and produced seven points, six rebounds and six boards in a Mavericks loss to the Rockets. With Dirk Nowitzki out of the lineup one would figure that Kidd would have taken more of a lead in this game but he was content to let others shine, and unfortunately for the Mavs, they didn't.
February 25, 2008
Jason Kidd took only seven shots on Monday night but he still dominated the game with 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists in the Mavs 102-94 victory over the Bulls. Kidd turned the ball over six times so it wasn't all roses, but the team seems to really be warming up to their new point guard.
February 24, 2008
A third time was a charm for Jason Kidd. After two sub-par performances to start off his run with the Mavericks, Kidd responded with a season-high 17 assists Sunday to go along with 12 points, seven rebounds and four steals in the win over Minnesota. The Mavs need more performances like this from Jason if they want to move up in the playoff seedings.
February 22, 2008
Jason Kidd scored only two points while taking just four shots on the night but he hauled in five rebounds while dishing off 15 assists in the 98-83 Mavs victory over the Grizzlies. Kidd has scored a total of 12 points with 21 assists in two games for the Mavs, production that the needs to improve for Kidd to remain an all-around fantasy force.
February 20, 2008
Jason Kidd had a dud of a debut Wednesday with the Mavericks, scoring eight points while notching five assists with six turnovers. The veteran was far outclassed by Chris Paul, who poured in 31 points while also notching 11 assists and nine steals. Kidd may need a bit of time to get used to his new teammates, and for his teammates to get used to him. You should still stick with him in your lineup, though.
February 20, 2008
Jason Kidd will take part in his first game with the Mavs since 1997 on Wednesday, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It'll be interesting to see how well he clicks with his new teammates, but you can expect a healthy assist total, regardless.
February 19, 2008
Jason Kidd is finally a Dallas Maverick. The point guard heads to Texas along with forward Malik Allen and guard Antoine Wright. New Jersey gets point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop and swingman Maurice Ager, plus retired forward Keith Van Horn and Trenton Hassell. The Nets also pick up two first-round draft picks and $3 million. Kidd still can't shoot, but he will obviously make the players around him in Dallas a lot better.
February 18, 2008
Jason Kidd's trade to the Mavericks appears to be on its way to completion as Keith Van Horn has agreed to sign a $4 million to play for the Nets, at least for 30 days, this according to a report in The Star Ledger. In a separate move, Nets will trade Antoine Wright to Dallas in exchange for $1.6 million to open up a roster spot for Van Horn. All of that make sense? The bottom line is that team's have found a way to make this deal work, so look for an official announcement to come on Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.
February 18, 2008
Jason Kidd and his impending move to Dallas still may not happen as the league is reviewing the details of the trade, particularly the inclusion of Keith Van Horn in the deal according to ESPN. "It's possible that [Van Horn] may be an issue," Nets president Rod Thorn said. It sounds like Van Horn will have to take, and pass, a physical for the trade to happen, a concern since he hasn't played since the 2006 Finals. It also appears that he must make himself available to actually play as the NBA doesn't want this type of trade to become common place where a player is moved in name only just to make the dollar amounts even out.
February 18, 2008
The Star Ledger reported Monday afternoon that nothing is going to happen concerning the Jason Kidd to Dallas deal today. With weather creating havoc in the Midwest and on the East Coast, the league hasn't had a chance to research the fine print of the agreement. One thing the paper is adamant about, referencing Internet reports on Monday: Antoine Wright is definitely involved in the deal.
February 18, 2008
The Star-Telegram reports that Jason Kidd's return to the Mavericks is being sealed. The New Jersey Nets reached a new agreement in principle Sunday evening, according to paper. The Mavs will give up Devin Harris, DeSagana Diop and Maurice Ager, with Trenton Hassell and the semi-retired Keith Van Horn replacing Jerry Stackhouse and Devean George. The Mavs will also throw in $3 million and two first-round draft picks to sweeten the deal. Stay tuned.
February 18, 2008
The Nets and Mavericks are back at the trade table talking swap. According to ESPN the two teams are close to a deal that would send Jason Kidd to Dallas... again. The teams have reached an agreement in principle and will review the trade details on Monday. In a pre-game All-Star interview, asked whether he expects to be a Net or a Mav on Thursday, Kidd said his gut feeling was "that I would probably be in Dallas." Kidd told reporters after Sunday's game that he will be waiting for an answer about the deal just like everyone else.
February 17, 2008
Jason Kidd knew what team he was on this night, and though he scored but two points on 1-for-2 shooting , he was able to dish out a team-high 10 assists for the East in the All-Star game.
February 17, 2008
Jason Kidd appears headed to the Mavericks after all according to a report on ESPN. The newly reformatted offer would see Kidd on his way to Dallas with Malik Allen for Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, DeSagana Diop, Maurice Ager, Keith Van Horn, $3 million and two first-round drafts picks. The trade will not become official until at least Monday as the league will have to review it since Van Horn is unofficially retired and the Mavericks would have to release a player as well. And you thought that Van Horn would never be relevant again, admit it.
February 15, 2008
ESPN.com reports, the trade that was expected to return Jason Kidd back to Dallas is still in the works. However, with no indication that Mavericks forward Devean George is planning to reverse his posture, the sides have been forced to get creative. Nets president Rod Thorn told ESPN that the two sides are working to find "a trade combination" that can overcome the unexpected obstacles created by George. At least two sources close to the process expressed optimism Thursday that the deal will be completed.
February 13, 2008
Jason Kidd may not be headed to the Mavericks after all since one of the players involved in the trade, Devean George, has exercised a clause in his contract that will allow him to block his trade to the Nets according to a report on ESPN. As a result the deal, which had verbally been agreed to, will have to be reworked unless George is somehow persuaded to allow his inclusion in it. The upshot is that the deal will likely have to be restructured, but there is still hope that something will eventually be worked out to allow Kidd to suit up for the Mavericks.
February 13, 2008
Jason Kidd still may not become a member of the Mavericks according to a report on the Dallas Morning News. Mark Cuban, in an email, said that the deal "...could still fall through." At this point it appears that the deal will go through, but with all the players and contracts in play, it just might take more time than originally thought to get it all done.
February 13, 2008
Jason Kidd has been traded to the Dallas Mavericks according to a report on ESPN.com. The deal is not yet official, but it is being reported as "imminent," according to sources. The proposed deal would send Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop and Devean George to New Jersey for Kidd and Darrell Armstrong.
February 12, 2008
Jason Kidd scored nine points, registered nine assists and pulled down 10 rebounds in Tuesday night's 92-88 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It was the second straight game that the veteran just missed his 100th triple-double. Kidd continues to prove he can still contribute, and is doing his best impression of a player trying to impress playoff-bound organizations.
February 11, 2008
Jason Kidd could be traded before the deadline, but don't count on him ending up in Dallas according to a report on ESPN. "For us to make the numbers work in a deal like that, we'd have to trade away half the team," Cuban said. We're not doing that, so it just doesn't work." Kidd is still unhappy in New Jersey, everyone knows that, and a change of scenery would likely do nothing but add a boost to his already high value.
February 11, 2008
Jason Kidd continues to demand a trade but plays with purpose as the veteran finished with 13 points, 14 assists and six rebounds in the destruction of the Mavericks 101-82 on Sunday night. There seems to be very little interest around the league for Kidd's services. Falling just four rebounds shy of his 100th career triple-double should send a message to teams looking to bolster their roster for a playoff run.
February 8, 2008
Jason Kidd has his 12th triple-double of the season on Friday night, delivering 19 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists in a win over the Bobcats. It's his first triple-double since he went public with his trade demands on Jan. 28.
February 1, 2008
A rumored trade possibility between the Nets, Mavs and Trail Blazers has cooled down, according to the New York Daily News. That deal would have sent Jason Kidd, Malik Allen and Jamaal Magloire to the Mavs, Jerry Stackhouse, Devean George, Travis Outlaw, Channing Frye and Jarrett Jack to the Nets, and Devin Harris to the Blazers. Apparently, the Nets want more, though the Blazers arguably would be giving up far too much as well. The main troubles are that Kidd is owed a lot of money over the next couple of seasons and that it's known that he wants out of New Jersey. There remains a good chance he'll be dealt before the deadline, but this may not be the deal that makes it happen.
January 29, 2008
Nets guard Jason Kidd confirmed to ESPN.com that his agent has talked to the team about moving him by the February 21 trade deadline.
