Despite reports to the contrary, Nets guard Jason Kidd held a press conference on Thursday refuting that his absence from the lineup on Wednesday had to do with him wanting a contract extension or to be traded, the AP reported. Kidd reiterated that he really did have a migraine, forcing him to stay home.

Jason Kidd did not play on Wednesday night against the Knicks after calling coach Lawrence Frank and complaining of a migraine, but the New York Post is reporting that Kidd is “on strike” in attempt to force a trade or gain a contract extension. One source said the Nets were planning on talking to Dallas, the Lakers, and possibly Cleveland as trade destinations.

Jason Kidd returned to action for Friday's preseason game. He played 30 minutes and scored 10 points. It appears that Kidd's back injury won't keep him from the start of the season, but clearly at his age it's going to be an ongoing concern this year.

Jason Kidd (back) worked out on the Meadowlands floor about three hours before the Nets took on the Celtics in a preseason game Tuesday night, the New York Daily News reports. Kidd, who has torn tissue around a disk in his lower back, did some cutting and agility drills, according to Lawrence Frank, who called the session "a positive step." Kidd has not practiced since Oct. 14 and has yet to play in any of the preseason games; nonetheless, he did say on Monday that he thinks he will be ready for the season opener next week.

Jason Kidd was able to shoot the rock yesterday, as he continues to recover from a back injury. However, the Nets aren't sure when he will be ready to practice, according to the New York Daily News. Whether he will be ready for the start of the season is uncertain, and whether he will be able to stay healthy for the long term is unlikely.

Jason Kidd received an epidural shot for his ailing back on Thursday. He's not expected to resume practicing until at least the middle of next week, according to the New York Daily News. Kidd is 34 years old, so the fact that his back is hurting enough to require an epidural is a serious concern. Marcus Williams is Kidd's long-term backup, but he's out a couple of months following surgery, so Darrell Armstrong could run the show early on if Kidd isn't able to suit up.

Nets guard Jason Kidd hasn’t practiced since Sunday with an injured back and is going to sit out the next two preseason games, the New York Daily News reported. With Kidd also facing off-the-court issues stemming from a nightclub incident, it appears that Darrell Armstrong could be headed for a larger role than originally expected. However, coach Lawrence Frank said it was premature to assume that Kidd’s health would be an issue when the season begins.

Guard Jason Kidd was charged with harassing and groping a 23-year old woman in a Manhattan night club earlier this month. According to the police report, Kidd approached the woman and grabbed her crotch. When she tried to fend him off, he continued until she left the club. It is an ongoing investigation, and a statement from his publicist called it a "fabrication."
