Lakers center Andrew Bynum ran on a treadmill Tuesday for the first time since injuring his left knee, according to the Associated Press. Bynum ran for 20 minutes on a new $75,000 treadmill that simulates low gravity situations. A player can run without the pounding he would normally experience on a regular treadmill or on the court, which gives his legs a break. Black said Bynum ran at 60-65 percent of his body weight. Lakers spokesman John Black said no timetable has been set for Bynum's return, adding: "We set a minimum of eight weeks. We didn't set a maximum." This is good news for Laker fans. Getting Bynum back will only improve an already-strong team ready for the challenge for the league title.

Andrew Bynum still hasn't started running on a treadmill, though he could begin doing that next week, according to the LA Times. Andrew Bynum still has no timetable set for his return, but at this point, he likely won't play until late March or early April, according to the LA Times. "I think it's going well," Lakers spokesman John Black said. "There's the normal amount of pain and swelling that goes with it, but there have been no negative reactions." He's been jogging in a pool for over a week now. His next step will be hitting a treadmill, as he continues to work his way back from a dislocated kneecap. With time to get his game legs under him, it's debatable whether he'll have any fantasy value the rest of the regular season, which ends for the Lakers on April 15.
February 23, 2008
Andrew Bynum tested his injured knee Thursday by running in a pool, according to the LA Times. "It responded great from the pool. No extra swelling, and I was able to do everything I needed to do today," he said Friday. "I think we've got about a week and a half of the pool and if I keep doing well and don't get any more swelling, then I'll actually be able to get on the treadmill. Once I'm on there, I should be able to get on the court." Bynum won't return until at least March 11, and it's more likely that he won't be ready for game action until later in March.

Andrew Bynum remains on schedule to return from his dislocated kneecap during the week of March 9, according to the LA Times. "That was kind of the thought when the injury happened," Lakers spokesman John Black said Friday. "We have no reason to change that right now. We will continue to monitor it. As far as the swelling goes, it looks more normal. He's definitely not running or jogging, but he's continuing treatment." It may take him a number of games to get his legs under him, and the addition of Pau Gasol could limit Bynum's over all production down the stretch. But so far, at least he's recovering well.

Andrew Bynum was forced out of Sunday's game after spraining his left knee. More should be known about the severity of the injury after he undergoes an MRI on Monday, according to the LA Times. Bynum was having a breakout season and was averaging 16.4 ppg, 10.4 rpg and 2.4 bpg over the last month, so this could be devastating to the Lakers and fantasy owners if the MRI results show something serious. Regardless, he's probably going to miss some action, so look for Kwame Brown to start.
