The Heats Alonzo Mourning tore his patellar tendon in his right knee on Wednesday night. Mournings knee buckled without contact as he was about to jump to defend a layup by Atlantas Mario West. It is not yet known if this will end the 37-year olds season, but he will be out for an extended period of time.

Alonzo Mourning announced Sunday that he will return for his 15th season. He also said he plans to call it a career after the next campaign, according to the Miami Herald. Zo doesn't do much but block shots anymore, and he only gets that done with regularity when Shaq misses games due to injury.

Alonzo Mourning is still undecided on whether he will come back to play another season, saying that the decision will be based somewhat on other unresolved matters that will affect the team's immediate future. At the top of the list appears to be whether or not coach Pat Riley will be returning. "That's definitely a factor," Mourning told the AP. "Stay tuned."

Alonzo Mourning said he'd be OK with taking the occasional game or two off the remainder of the season, according to the Sun-Sentinel. "I would like it," Mourning said. "If it happens and the team is still able to win, then my body would appreciate it." Mourning turns 37 next month and was overworked the first half of the season, while Shaquille O'Neal was out with an injury. Once Shaq's up to full speed, Zo's numbers will dip.
