After sitting out Tuesday's game to a sore hip, Suns' center Shaquille ONeal was back in the lineup for Phoenix on Wednesday. Shaquille ONeal had his second straight poor showing for the Suns Sunday, scoring eight points on 3-of-8 shooting. He was a woeful 1-for-8 from the line, though he did make up for it a bit with 11 boards. "We still have to be realistic about things," O'Neal said in the AP after the game. "I've only been here about eight days. This is only my third game with the guys, so we still have a lot of figuring out to do. If everyone just sticks with their role, we should be fine." The Diesel will surely pick it up soon, but those hoping to see the old Shaq again might be disappointed.
February 23, 2008

Shaq played 28 minutes in what was his first game back from a hip injury. The Suns fell to The Diesel's old team, the Lakers, 130-124. Shaq should put up close to a double-double each night with Phoenix as long as he stays healthy, but he's obviously a shell of his former self.
February 19, 2008
Shaquille ONeal is finally ready to make his Suns debut. Shaq, who's coming back from a hip injury, made it through Sunday's and Monday's practices and should be on the floor tomorrow night against his former team, the Lakers. He could need a little bit of time to get his feet wet with his new team, but Shaq is still good enough that you should probably put him back in your lineup immediately.

"I went through three tough days, moving, jumping, banging and the hip feels pretty solid," O'Neal said. "One or two days of working out on my own and I'm looking to come back very, very shortly." During an interview for ESPN’s “Sunday Conversation,” Shaquille ONeal shot back at analyst Bill Walton, who suggested that if O’Neal comes back healthy and produces it will be proof that he was faking an injury while with Miami. According to the East Valley Tribune, “If I’m faking an injury, then (Walton’s) whole injury-plagued career is a fake,” O’Neal said. “We’re talking about someone who only played one or two seasons injury-free. One thing I really hate is a hypocrite. “Mr. Walton has broken the big man’s ordinance code 225.27 — no big man under should talk about a big man above. It’s just not right and it’s disrespectful.” Shaq is expected to take part in his first game as a Sun after the All Star break.

Washington guard Gilbert Arenas told the Arizona Republic that Shaquille ONeal will make the Suns NBA Champs. "It's going to put them over the top," Arenas said. "It just reminds me of Showtime, when Kareem (Abdul-Jabbar) couldn't run his (last) couple years. Just rebound. Just let them play basketball and, in the half-court, they went to him. "He's (O'Neal) at 325 right now and 11 percent body fat. He wasn't even at that when he won championship in Miami. He was probably playing possum down there"
February 11, 2008

"There's no reason he can't get back to playing a high level from a structural standpoint," Thomas Carter said. We won't find out exactly what Shaq can do on the court until at least Thursday against the Mavs, the Suns' last game before the All-Star break. However, it won't happen this weekend, as he'll be back in Miami taking care of some personal affairs before returning to Phoenix on Sunday. Certainly, he'll practice next week, assuming his hip is up to it. But whether he wants to kick things off against the run-and-gun Warriors and Mavs is debatable. Stay tuned, but don't expect much from the Shaq Daddy until after the All-Star break.

The Suns are considering acquiring Shaquille O'Neal from the Heat, according to ESPN.com. The Heat would receive Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks in return. Wow, that would be a monster deal. With Marion and Dwyane Wade, the future would be bright in South Beach. Meanwhile, the Suns would hope that Shaq could get over his hip injury and help provide a force in the paint during the playoffs. In fantasy terms, Marion would get a big boost in production by becoming the clear No. 2 option for the Heat. Shaq could even get a bump, if he can get healthy.

"We'll find out. I'm confident that this treatment will help him." Shaq's battling bursitis and inflammation in his left hip that's bad enough a close associate of his recommended he sit out the rest of the season.
