Chris Webber officially announced his retirement on Wednesday. Knee problems did the power forward in after a career that spanned 15 seasons and five teams. "I really didn’t want to rehab and come back this season because I don’t think that was possible," Webber tells the AP. He averaged 20.7 points, 9.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks over 831 career games.

Chris Webber plans to announce his retirement from the NBA on Wednesday, according to ESPN.com. "One of the best power forwards to ever play in the NBA," Pistons president Joe Dumars told ESPN.com. Despite being overly remembered for his timeout call in the 1993 NCAA title game, C-Webb was one of the great passing big men of all time, and averaged 20.7 ppg, 4.2 apg, 9.8 rpg, 1.4 spg, 1.4 bpg and 47.9 FG% over his 15-season career. On his way to winning Rookie of the Year honors, Webber became the first player ever to tally 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists, 150 blocks, and 75 steals in his first season. And he proved to be a fantasy monster, especially during the 2001-02 season, when he averaged 27.1 ppg, 4.2 apg, 11.1 rpg, 1.3 spg and 1.7 bpg. He tried to give it one more run this season with his original coach and team (Don Nelson and the Warriors), but his body just couldn't take it anymore.

Coach Don Nelson told the Contra Costa Times that center Chris Webber is feeling pain when he tries to do weight work as part of the rehabilitation for his left knee, which was strained Feb. 29, and is not doing any on-court work at the moment. Webber's chances of playing tonight against his former team are slim-to-none.

Chris Webber (sore knee) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game in Phoenix, this according to the San Francisco Chronicle. The veteran forward has no timetable for a return and zero fantasy value.

Results of an MRI on Chris Webber's knee came back negative, according to the AP. He missed Tuesday's game and could miss at least a few more due to the sore joint. C-Webb's going to have minimal fantasy value even when on the court, but we may not see that happen again until next week.

Chris Webber missed the second half of Sunday's game due to left knee pain. He will undergo an MRI, the San Jose Mercury News reports. It's not know if Webber will be able to play on Tuesday.

Chris Webber was inactive for the Warriors on Wednesday night after playing in three games for the team. No information is available as to why he didn't suit up, perhaps it had something to do with his abysmal performance so far with Golden State (2.7 points, 3.3 rebounds).

Chris Webber will only play center moving forward according to HC Don Nelson. "Everything works better for me, at least in my mind, if I kind of make (Webber) a (center) as opposed to a (power forward)," Nelson said. "That's an idea. I'm going to look at that, and hope that's what's going to work best for us." Of course, Nelson changes his mind about as frequently as the Warriors change ends of the court at halftime, so there is no telling if this move will hold long-term. Hopefully Webber will get in enough games to become Center eligible which will add to his limited value. Contra Costa Times

Warriors forward Chris Webber had four points and two assists in 12 minutes of action Thursday night. In his first game with Golden State since the former No. 1 overall draft pick forced a trade after his rookie season more than 13 years ago, Webber wore an orange headband and his familiar No. 4. Webber played just 13 minutes registering four points and one rebound in the 114-108 loss to the Bulls.

Chris Webber will start in place of Al Harrington for the Warriors when he makes his season debut on Thursday, according to the Contra Costa Times. "I think he should start," coach Don Nelson said. "I'm planning on starting him every game." That sounds good, but Nellie is nortorious for switching his starting lineup all season long, so don't write C-Webb down in your starting lineup in ink. Of course, it's better in fantasy terms that he start rather than come off the bench, but you should be skeptical about his fantasy potential. The Warriors run the floor, and there's no way the aging big man is going to keep up. Instead, he'll be asked to hit the glass and create outlet passes and try to score some baskets when they're forced into their halfcourt set. That should be enough for him to help out teams in deep leagues, but his upside is going to be low.

Chris Webber will be back in uniform as soon as this week after agreeing to a deal with Golden State, ESPN.com reported. Webber signed for a pro-rates share of the league’s $1.2 million veteran minimum. The signing will be formally announced on Tuesday. The soonest he would play is Wednesday.

A Warriors team source said Friday evening that the club is "seriously intersted" in signing free agent Chris Webber to a contract, according to the Contra Costa Times. Two team officials confirmed that the two sides have been negotiating a contract and that a deal may be close. Wow, maybe time really does heal all wounds. Before his current stint with the Warriors, Don Nelson ran the show back when C-Webb was a rookie. They didn't get along at all, and they lasted just one year together before Webber opted out of his contract and signed with what was then the Washington Bullets. The Warriors really could use his post presence for the playoffs, but the old, slow version of C-Webb isn't likely to offer much in fantasy terms during the regular season on a Warriors team that's built to run.
