Player Notes
May 10, 2008
The Celtics suffered their first loss of the Eastern Conference semifinals as the Cleveland Cavaliers took Game 3, 108-84. None of the members of the starting lineup did much to rave about, but guard Ray Allen was especially atrocious, going 4-of-12 from the floor, a pathetic 0-of-5 from the three-point line, and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe to finish with 10 points.
May 8, 2008
Ray Allen hit only four of 10 shots on the night, but he added seven free-throws to total 16 points in the Celtics 89-73 victory over the Cavs.
May 6, 2008
Ray Allen missed all four of his shots and all three of his three-pointers in the Game 1 win over the Cavaliers. He didn't make it to the free-throw line and shockingly scored zero points.
May 2, 2008
Ray Allen dropped 20 points in Friday night's loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Atlanta's win forced an improbable Game 7 in Boston.
April 20, 2008
Ray Allen scored 18 points leading the Boston Celtics to a 104-81 win Sunday night in their playoff opener against the Atlanta Hawks.
April 17, 2008
Ray Allen and the Celtics enter the playoffs as the favorite to win the NBA title. The East, a doormat to the West, even when Shaq and the Heat won the title, have rarely been the favorite over the last decade. Allen is key to Boston's success.
April 14, 2008
Ray Allen was given the night off on Monday, the Boston Globe reports.
April 1, 2008
Ray Allen took the lead in Boston’s 106-92 win over Chicago this evening, going 7-of-14 from the field and a strong 5-of-7 from three-point land to score a team-leading 22 points with six assists (2nd only to Rajon Rondo with 10). Allen has that great touch from long range and can blow up for big numbers on any given night, making him a perfect fit on this roster bloated with offensive leaders.
March 20, 2008
Ray Allen returned from a three-game absence to an ankle injury and scored 21 points in 31 minutes helping the Boston Celtics complete the Texas hat trick with a win over the Dallas Mavericks 94-90 on Thursday night. The Celtics are getting healthy and gelling at the right time as they swept all three Texas teams this past week, a feet that Boston hadn't completed since the day of Bird and McCale.
March 20, 2008
Ray Allen was back in the starting lineup for Boston on Thursday. An ankle injury had the Celtics All Star questionable for the game. Ray Allen, when healthy, subdues the fantasy value of backup Tony Allen.
March 20, 2008
Ray Allen is listed as probable for Thursday, according to The Sports Network. Allen missed his previous three games due to a bruised left heel. Allen is averaging 18.3 points per game this season.
March 18, 2008
Ray Allen missed his second straight game Monday night because of a sore heel. Head coach Doc Rivers told the Celtics' television network that Allen will miss Tuesday's game versus the Rockets as well. Tony Allen and newly acquired Sam Cassell split time in Allen's place. If Cassell can return to form and be productive in Allen's absence look for Rivers to ease his shooting guard back into the rotation.
March 17, 2008
Doc Rivers dubbed Ray Allen "50-50" for Monday's game, though he said Allen was improving at the morning shootaround, according to the Boston Globe. Allen's dealing with a bruised heel and will end up a game-time call after testing things out during the pre-game workout.
March 16, 2008
Ray Allen skipped Saturday's game due to his bruised heel, but he could return as soon as Monday, according to the Boston Globe. "He'll be fine," said coach Doc Rivers. "I think he can play as early as Monday, maybe a little after that. I'm not sure yet. It's nothing serious. It's just a bruise in his heel and we want it to go away. The best way is rest." Ray-Ray's had problems with his feet for years, so expect the C's to play it safely with him and hold him out until he's healthy enough to not risk aggravating the ailment.
March 15, 2008
Ray Allen joined his teammates for the trip to Milwaukee for Saturday's game, but coach Doc Rivers said Allen would have to be "extremely healthy" to play, according to the Boston Globe. He exited Friday's game with a bruised heel and did not return. Considering the C's only concern at this point is the postseason, it would be surprising to see Allen lace up for Saturday's run with the Bucks.

Boston guard Ray Allen left the Celtics’ game against Utah on Friday night with a jammed left ankle and did not return for the final three quarters, according to the Associated Press. The 32-year-old All-Star played the whole first quarter but did not come out for the second. The Celtics announced he had a jammed ankle, and after re-evaluating him at halftime said he would not return. Allen scored nine points, going 6-for-6 from the free throw line. He is Boston’s No. 3 scorer, with 18.4 per game.
February 17, 2008
Ray Allen, added to the All-Star team as an injury replacement, scored 28 points to lead the East to a 134-128 victory over the West. Allen was 10-for-14 from the field including 5-for-9 from downtown.
February 13, 2008
Ray Allen scored 21 points and added eight boards and five assists on Wednesday night in the Celtics 111-103 victory over the Knicks. Those are certainly good surface numbers, but as he has done much of this year, Allen was far from his normal dead-eye self from the field as he made only 6 of 16 shots on the night. Allen can be deadly when he is on, and even on nights like tonight when he isn't, he still offers enough production to be a solid starter in all fantasy formats.

It turns out that Ray Allen has battled his surgically repaired ankles for most of the season, according to the Metro West Daily News. "I've felt good, but I've still hslight problems with my ankles and trying to move forward," he said. "That's just with the soreness in them. It just hurts me a little bit. Just in the last week I have been able to get back fit with my body. In between practices, I have been working on my power stuff - getting in there, exploding to the rim, dunking with both hands like I know I am capable of doing. I've been getting my legs back underneath me and that carries over to my jump shot." It's been pretty clear watching him play that he's not as fluid running the court as he was in previous years. And while he said he's getting better, he's also 32 years old and 10 months removed from the surgeries on his ankles, so this is something to keep an eye on going forward.

Ray Allen missed Tuesday's game due to the flu, the AP reports. The Celtics still rolled over Miami, despite the fact that Allen and Kevin Garnett (strained abdominal muscle) didn't play, and Paul Pierce had an off night.
January 10, 2008
As expected, Celtics guard Ray Allen sat out Wednesday’s game against Charlotte due to a pinched nerve in his neck. But the injury isn’t serious. “Clearly if it was a playoff game he’d be playing,” coach Doc Rivers told the AP. “He felt great today.”
January 8, 2008
Ray Allen has a pinched nerve in his neck and is doubtful for Wednesday's home game against Charlotte, Doc Rivers told the AP. "It's not anything that's going to last," Rivers said after practice Tuesday, adding he expects Allen to play Friday at New Jersey. "It's a pinched nerve, it is what it is. From my understanding, it's day to day."
