Stephon Marbury practiced with the Knicks on Saturday. However, he was inactive for Sunday's game due to personal reasons, according to the New York Daily News. He's still dealing with the death of his father, as well as a strained relationship with coach Isiah Thomas, and it's not clear if he will suit up for Wednesday's run.

Stephon Marbury rejoined his Knicks teammates Saturday for practice. It was the first time he was with the Knicks in nine days and the third time he returned since his father's death on Dec. 2, according to the New York Daily News. Coach Isiah Thomas said he didn't think Marbury would play Sunday, but that could change if a hand injury keeps Jamal Crawford out. What Thomas' or Marbury's long-term plans are for the remainder of the season are anyone's guess, though.

Marbury was absent from the team's morning shootaround Tuesday, and failed to show up when the Knicks played Phoenix later that night. Meanwhile, the New York Post reported that Marbury claims he had permission to leave the club. "I would never leave my team on my own," Marbury told The Post. "What I'm telling you is that I got permission to leave from Isiah (Thomas). He said I could go home." Thomas did not confirm that assertion after Tuesday's game. One thing that does appear clear - Marbury isn't happy with his reduced role with the club. He's not expected to rejoin the team in Los Angeles for Wednesday's game with the Clippers.

He also sat in the fourth quarter after Daniel Gibson dropped four straight triples on Marbury, according to the New York Daily News. "This is the year," coach Isiah Thomas said, "where the best people play." Nate Robinson scored 19 points and had six boards off the bench, running the point in place of Marbury. About the only thing near certain with the Knicks is that Zach Randolph should perform well. After that, it's anyone's guess who will play well and when.

Stephon Marbury has said that when his contract expires with the Knicks in two years, he's planning to play in Italy. "I'm not just thinking of doing it, I'm going to do it," Marbury told the New York Post. "My wife loved it there. It's like a [David] Beckham thing." The Marburys visited Rome, Milan and Tuscany in May of this year.
