As expected, the Pacers got Jermaine O'Neal back in the mix Wednesday evening. He had a huge game against the Pistons, playing 38 minutes, scoring 26 points and cleaning the glass for 14 rebounds. O'Neal had missed the previous three contests with a strained left hamstring.

His hamstring injury doesn't appear to be serious, but the Pacers want to be cautious with his return. "We’re hopeful addressing it now can prevent us from having to deal with something long term," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said. "I saw the MRIs and he doesn’t have a tear, but he has the beginnings of a possible tear and significant swelling. If he’s not shut down now and treated, this thing could get ugly very fast."

Jermaine O'Neal was in and out of Friday's game due to a sore left hamstring, according to the Indianapolis Star. He said it was the same muscle that caused him to miss action during the preseason. "He felt something in there where it was bothering him enough in the first half that he felt like it might tear," coach Rick Carlisle said. "He got it worked on in the first half, warmed up and was able to go in the second half. We’ll see where he is (for tonight’s game at Denver)."

Jermaine O'Neal was able to play Friday against Orlando despite his left ankle injury. O'Neal didn't have one of his better games - just nine points on 4-for-15 shooting - but at least he was on the court. He added 11 rebounds in his 31-minute stint.

Jermaine ONeal sat out Wednesday night's game because of a left ankle injury, according to the AP. O'Neal said that he expects to play on Friday. "The medical staff just didn't think if I played today that I would be able to play on Friday. I had surgery seven years ago, and I had a bone spur taken out, so any time I tweak my ankle, it's bone-on-bone," O'Neal said. "So I get bone bruises a little bit, but I'll be ready to play on Friday."

Jermaine O'Neal slightly sprained his left ankle in the third quarter of Tuesday's win over Philadelphia, though he doesn't expect the injury to keep him out from Wednesday's game with Washington, the AP reports. O'Neal had 16 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks in just 27 minutes Tuesday.

"Jermaine's name is going to come up all summer," team president Larry Bird. "There's not one time we ever called anybody and said, 'Hey, are you interested in Jermaine O'Neal?' Jermaine O'Neal is the best player on this team. Everybody on this team knows Jermaine is our guy. Are we looking to trade Jermaine? No."

Though the Pacers have said they have no intention of trading Jermaine ONeal this summer, O'Neal sounded like it was still a possibility. "I'm 27 years old and I feel like I'm one of the best in the league," he told the Indianapolis Star. "So if I'm here, I'm here. If I'm not, I'm not. It's just the way it is. After averaging only 13.5 points and five rebounds in the first two games, O’Neal carried the Pacers in Game 3, shooting 12-for-15 from the field and 13-for-14 from the line while grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking four shots.

"I'm not really getting a rhythm out there," he said. "I'm out there trying different ways to shoot. Instead of going all the way down, I only go halfway down and I struggle with that. It's an issue where I have to get into the gym and find a way to make them."
