Clippers backup point guard Brevin Knight did not play on Wednesday due to a sore lower back, the L.A. Times reported. Team trainer Jasen Powell said that Knight is “day to day.”

Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy has been impressed by both Brevin Knight and Dan Dickau this preseason, so much so that he admittedly doesn’t know who the backup to Sam Cassell will be. Asked who would get the nod when Cassell gets his first rest of the season, Dunleavy told the LA Times, “I don’t know if I’ll know that even when the season starts.”

Veteran point guard Brevin Knight agreed to a two-year, $4 million contract with the Clippers on Friday, the L.A. Times reported. Knight’s deal is pending a physical, and he will back up fellow veteran Sam Cassell.

Brevin Knight has expressed interest in playing for the Nuggets, according to the Denver Post. "That's an intriguing team for me," Knight said Tuesday by phone. "My interest is high. I just think it's a nice place to be. Two great scorers in (Allen) Iverson and Carmelo (Anthony). And to play with coach (George) Karl in that system, and where the organization has come from and where they are now, that's intriguing to me." Knight's agent, Bill Strickland, is set to meet today with Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien.

The Bobcats waived Brevin Knight on Friday, the AP reported. Knight, who was scheduled to make just more than $4 million next season, had a $1.5 million buyout clause. Knight has suffered various ailments the last several season, likely leading to his departure.

Brevin Knight said he wasn't sure if the Bobs would pick up his contract option for next season, according to the Charlotte Observer. "I would love to be back," he said Wednesday. "I love what we've done here, and I think we can do big things next season." Fantasy owners would prefer he ply his trade elsewhere, as he's usually hurt and continues to slow the progress of the Bobs' talented younger players.

Brevin Knight finally returned from his abdominal tear last night. He played 26 minutes and scored only one point, though he added seven assists. It looks like he could get back into the starting lineup as soon as tonight and should have plenty of value so long as he stays healthy.
