Zydrunas Ilgauskas will not be allowed to play for Team Lithuania in the upcoming Olympics, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He wants very much to compete in Beijing, but the Cavaliers believe it would be too risky to grant him permission. GM Danny Ferry said, "Zydrunas is an important member of our team and has generally been a higher-risk player due to his injury history. We declined consent for Zydrunas to play in the Olympics when he approached us several weeks ago."

Zydrunas Ilgauskas continued his run of solid play of late with 16 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots on Friday night. Everyone knows the Cavs are all about LeBron, but it's important that they have an inside presence if they plan on doing any long-term damage. Illgauskas has now scored 16 or more in three of the past four games for the Cavs.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas appears to be getting back into form, putting 32 minutes of work in against the Detroit Pistons to help the Cavs pull a much-needed 89-73 win over their Eastern Conference foes. The Cavs really need Zydrunas to be in shape and playing well once the playoffs start. This evening’s game give optimistic hope that he is close.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas returned from his back injury on Sunday after missing seven games, but the Cavs have no plans to limit his minutes down the stretch, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal. "Our training staff says he is a go and he says he's a go, and I'm going to try to play him as normally as I can," coach Mike Brown said. "I'm going to do it unless I'm told otherwise." That said, if the Cavs wrap up their playoff position early, odds are Big Z will get some extra rest.

The back injury that kept Zydrunas Ilgauskas from taking part in Sunday's game is expected to keep him sidelined for at least two weeks, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "I'll be out for at least two weeks," Ilgauskas said. "I've been fighting it for the past two or three months and it just got worse over the last few days." Let's hope the big fella can shake this off quickly and keep it from becoming a nagging problem. Anderson Varejao should continue to start in Big Z's stead.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas will not take part in Sunday's game due to a strained back, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Big Z's had back ailments for a long time, so hopefully this isn't the beginning of a problem that will nag him the rest of the season. Look for Anderson Varejao and Ben Wallace, who will be facing his old Bulls team, to pick up the slack on Sunday in Big Z's absence.

The side effect of Big Z's absence is that Ben Wallace started at center and Anderson Varejao moved into the starting lineup at power forward.
