Vlade Divac announced his retirement on Tuesday, according to the LA Times. "I never thought this day was going to come," Divac said. "You always think you can go an extra year."

The Lakers waived Vlade Divac on Thursday, according to the AP. The Lakers had the option of picking up a one-year, $5.4 million contract option or buying him out for $2 million. Divac will be owed the $2 million if he clears waivers.

Vlade Divac hasn't decided whether or not he will retire and says that decision will be made on September 30, according to the LA Times. Divac has said he would play only for the Lakers if he does return.
