Although Steve Francis returned from his knee injury for last night's game, he wasn't happy about how the joint felt, according to the New York Daily News. "I don't know, man," Francis said about his knee. "It didn't feel that comfortable. I still felt a step slow. It felt like I was out there for two hours. It's never going to go away, but hopefully I can continue to try to treat it to maintain. I want to get healthy. I've been running on the side and doing things like that. There's going to be some discomfort. I just have to bear with it and take my chances. Hopefully it will be better."

Coach Isiah Thomas benched the struggling Steve Francis Wednesday, according to the AP. Francis, who is averaging under 10 points per game thus far, was replaced in the lineup by Jamal Crawford. Thomas didn't put a timetable on how long he plans to keep Francis out of the starting lineup. "I totally get the sense from him that he's thought this through," Thomas said. Francis limped off the court early in the first quarter after he landed on Bruce Bowen's foot while knocking down a jumper. Francis quickly returned and played 10 1/2 minutes in the first half. He rejoined the Knicks just prior to last night's game and came off the bench to score 12 points against the champion Spurs. Hopefully, he will improve his performance once he gets settled in.
