ESPN.com reports that Elton Brand has accepted a five-year deal worth an estimated $82 million to play in Philadelphia on Tuesday. The deal cannot officially be announced before midnight.

Elton Brand has opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers that was to pay him over $16 million next year, reports ESPN.com. However, he stated that he desire is to remain with the Clippers, albeit with a new contract. "We're trying to work it out. My intention is to stay," he said.

Clippers' coach Mike Dunleavy expects Elton Brand back with the team next season, according to the LA Times. Brand is due to make $16,440,000 in 2008-2009. Dunleavy said, "There’s not a lot of teams with money out there and guys are going to find that out. There are going to be a lot of guys not happy with what they’re going to be offered."

Elton Brand is being coy regarding his plans of whether or not to opt out of his contract with the Clippers, according to the OC Register. Brand said, "Even if there is an opt-out, it doesn’t mean I’m going to a new team. It’s hinging on my agent saying to me, ‘Here are your options. The best-case scenario is to be here and to get to the championship, in the time that we have, and then everything would be great."

To add one positive note to the end of an abhorrent season for the LA Clippers, center and team leader Elton Brand was on the floor in the Clips' 75-93 season-finale loss to the Rockets and all signs point to reason for positive hopes in 2009. Brand shot 5-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line to score 18 points, adding 12 rebounds and three blocked shots in just under 41 minutes of play.

Elton Brand played his first game of the season for the Clippers and he scored 19 points with five rebounds and three assists in almost 26 minutes of action. Brand, who has missed the entire season with an Achilles tendon injury, will look to work his way back into game shape in preparation for returning next season at full strength.

With medical clearance achieved and several positive practice sessions in the books, Elton Brand is ready to return to action for the LA Clippers, according to ESPN.com. Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy said that Brand, who has missed the entire season with an Achilles tendon injury, definitely will play Sunday against the Rockets, but the forward might return as soon as Thursday against the Kings. Brand, who averaged 20.5 points and 9.3 rebounds last season, tore his left Achilles tendon Aug. 3 during a workout. Without Brand, the Clippers are 22-52. Last season with Brand, the Clippers were 40-42 and missed out on qualifying for the playoffs by two games.

According to the Los Angeles Daily News, the Clippers medical staff has officially cleared power forward Elton Brand to begin play in games. Brand is expected to return to game action as soon as he is able to obtain his game legs. Expect to see Brand back in action as early as Thursday vs. Sacramento, or as late as Sunday against Houston. But don't expect the All Star to light up the score board anytime this season.

Elton Brand expects to join the Clippers for the team's final six games, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. Brand has missed the entire season due to a ruptured left Achilles tendon, but he went through a full practice on Monday. "If he didn't feel like he wasn't ready do it, then I wouldn't want to do it," head coach Mike Dunleavy says. "He's the one who's champing at the bit. So we'll see how it goes." Fantasy owners shouldn't expect much.

Elton Brand practiced with his teammates on Monday and looked solid, though he still needs some more work before being read for game action, this according to the O.C. Register. The team is still hopeful that Brand will play five of the last eight games of the season in his comeback from his Achilles injury. With Chris Kaman in and out of the lineup, the Clippers could certainly use force in the paint, and few are better than being that type of player than Brand, though after missing all season, don't expect much.

"It's tough because the end of the season's not really conducive to full-court practice," Brand tells the Los Angeles Times. You want to go over the other team's plays and things like that, but we really don't have five-on-five settings as much as I would like to, so we'll see." He ruptured his left Achilles tendon in early August.

Elton Brand is still about a month away from returning to game action, this according to LA Daily News. Brand is pleased to return to full contact practice and thought he was about two weeks away from contributing to the Clippers again, but Coach Dunleavy said on Monday that he could be out about a month, and added that he doesn't want to rush him back and risk him hurting something else, especially since the Clippers are still in the playoff hunt.

Elton Brand took part in a no-restraints, halfcourt scrimmage session on Tuesday, according to the OC Register. It was nearly three months to the day from when he underwent surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. It's not clear when he'll be ready for game action, but he's getting closer.
