Elton Brand admitted Sunday that his hopes of returning from his torn Achilles tendon by February may not be realistic. "The February timetable, that was the minimum. Six months," Brand said, according to the LA Times. "But basketball-wise and getting timing and stuff back, [trainer] Jasen Powell is like 'E, stop saying February, OK?' Because that's pushing it, but that would be great if you can.'" A ruptured Achilles tendon is a major injury, and it would be impressive if he's able to return at any point this season, much less contribute near his typical level.

Elton Brand has been cleared to begin dribbling and taking stationary shots. The doctor who performed surgery to repair Brand's torn Achilles tendon said the tendon was at about 75 percent overall strength, but he'll need to get it to about 90 percent before practicing, according to the LA Times. A best-case scenario would have Brand back in game action in Februrary, so keep your expectations tempered.

Clippers forward Elton Brand had the cast removed fro his left leg on Tuesday and was fitted for a removable walking boot, the AP reported. The cast came off six weeks after Brand had surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon. Brand is expected to wear the walking boot for six more weeks before being reevaluated.

Clippers forward Elton Brand underwent successful surgery on his ruptured left Achilles on Tuesday, the AP reported. Clippers forward Elton Brand ruptured his left Achilles tendon on Friday during his usual workout, ESPN.com reported. Although Achilles injuries usually take a year to recover from, preliminary indications are that BrandÂ’s injury could keep him sidelined for only six months, allowing for a possible return to the court in February. This is the second major injury suffered by the Clippers in the last year, as point guard Shaun Livingston suffered a possible career-ending knee injury in February.

Elton Brand admitted that he is dealing with an injury but opted against describing the ailment, according to the LA Times. "He's banged up, so we try not to practice him as much as usual," coach Mike Dunleavy said. "There are times when we can sit him out, so we do, but he's obviously a big part of any success we have." If the Clippers manage to lock up a playoff spot, you might see Brand rest.

Elton Brand missed his second straight game Wednesday with back spasms, according to the LA Times. However, coach Mike Dunleavy doesn't see Brand's issue has a big problem. "He's not having surgery where he would be out five to six weeks," Dunleavy said. "He'll be back hopefully next Tuesday night against the [Phoenix] Suns. It's not a gloom-and-doom situation. Even if he had said he could try it [Wednesday], it would have been too risky. With the All-Star break coming up, it just makes more sense to try and get him right for all the games after that."

The Clippers might play it safely with Elton Brand and hold him out of tonight's game, so he can rest his sore back over the All-Star break, according to the LA Times. Brand's basically a game-time call tonight, but expect the team to err on the side of caution.

Elton Brand did not play on Monday against Detroit due to back spasms, according to the LA Times. "He had back spasms in our last game," Coach Mike Dunleavy said. "Coming into tonight, I just decided to shut him down if he didn't feel good. He came out and tried it for a couple of minutes, shooting around, and it just didn't feel good." Brand is considered day-to-day.
