Ron Artest said the ankle he sprained more than 10 days ago won't stop him from playing, but it is sore and has contributed to some poor shooting lately, according to the Houston Chronicle. “I’m hoping it will get better pretty soon. I’m getting no lift at the end of the game, but it’s coming along," said Artest.

The Ron Artest deal could be undone by the NBA's resident bad boy. In response to Yao Ming's concerns about Artest's past, Ron-Ron retaliated according to the Sacramento Bee. "I understand what Yao said, but I'm still ghetto," said Artest, who will earn $7.4 million next season and be a free agent next summer. "That's not going to change. I'm never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don't think he's ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture. Once Yao Ming gets to know me, he'll understand what I'm about. If you go back to the brawl, that's a culture issue right there. Somebody was disrespecting me, so he's got to understand where I'm coming from. People that know me know that Ron Artest never changed." The deal cannot be completed until August 14 because of the nature of Donte Greene's contract (another player in the deal).

The Rockets will give up guard Bobby Jackson, along with their number one draft choice next season and another player that has yet to be named. Kings president Geoff Petrie declined to confirm any offer even existed saying, "I don't really have any speculation one way or another (about his future). We'll see what other things — not specific to Ron — but if there's some other way we can improve the team or change the team, we'll take a look at it."

According to the Sacramento Bee, one week after deciding he had made a poor decision not to opt out of his contract, Ron Artest explained his frustration further in an e-mail he sent to ESPN on Monday morning. "I made the comment about making a mistake on my opt out clause because I really did make a mistake. I had wrong info about extension options and it could have cost me a new deal. I was informed that the kings had me in their long term plans so that's why I decided to stay in contract. I just wanted to show loyalty. However when I spoke to the kings that was not an option and I grew frustrated with my decision immediately. I do apologize for being mistakenly frustrated with the kings. The Kings are holding out for third-year small forward Linas Kleiza and likely requiring forward Eduardo Najera and his expiring contract in exchange for the $7 Million dollar July free agent, Artest. The Kings veteran (Artest) recently backed off his trade demand.

This rumor is just that, a rumor, and as such there is no substantive data to support it at the moment. However, it seems a fair bet that Artest may end up being moved prior to the trade deadline with his final destination obviously determining his value the rest of the way.

Just nine games after having surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow, Ron Artest returned to the court for the Kings on Wednesday. Artest was originally expected to miss three to four weeks, but was back after only two weeks.
