The Raptors traded disgruntled point guard Rafer Alston to the Rockets for Mike James, according to the Toronto Star. If he gets along better with his new teammates and coaches than he did in Toronto, and if Bob Sura is slow to return from medical problems, Alston should have a nice season in Houston as the starting point guard.

Rafer Alston sat at the end of the bench and pouted in the first quarter after being pulled from Tuesday's game, according to the Toronto Star. He sat there the rest of the half before getting into what some reports said was a physical confrontation with coach Sam Mitchell in the locker room at halftime. The two have been at odds all season. Alston spent the second half in the locker room. "Rafer and I are struggling a little bit," Mitchell said. "Until we work it out, it's a process. ... Rafer is determined in his way and I'm determined in my way." Mitchell said he expects Alston to play and start tonight.

A day after being benched by coach Sam Mitchell, and later feuding with him, Rafer Alston was back in action Wednesday. He started, played a game-high 43 minutes, and scored 16 points to go with 12 assists, though he was 0-for-5 in the second half. Alston said before the game he wants an apology for the benching.

Having served a two-game suspension for an outburst at practice, Rafer Alston was contrite yesterday and admitted he has a problem controlling his emotions, according to the Toronto Star. "The main thing is Rafer knows he's got some things he's got to deal with and he's willing to deal with it. We're here to help him deal with it any way we can," GM Rob Babcock said. "You just don't put a Band-Aid on it and have a nice hug, smile and boom back to work. You've got to deal with this long-term."
