Rafer Alston was ejected from Wednesday night's Houston-Phoenix game after dramatically retaliating to a Matt Barnes shove in the third quarter. Tracy McGrady, Steve Nash, Shaquille O'Neal and Yao Ming were also involved in the scuffle. Barnes was the only other player ejected.

Rafer Alston is scheduled to return to court Wednesday when his driving while intoxicated trial begins, according to the Houston Chronicle. He will appear before Harris County Court at Law Judge Jean Spradling Hughes as a jury is picked to hear allegations that Alston was driving drunk about 3 a.m. August 7. Alston was arrested after a Houston police officer noticed his car making an erratic lane change. He also was driving without his headlights on.

Rafer Alston had assault charges against him dropped on Friday, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We went into court and the DA office indicated that all charges be dismissed based on their investigation," attorney Al Ebanks said. "They did not feel this is a case that should go forward. They understand the case has no merit. We’re obviously pleased with the outcome, as pleased as can be when the case had no merit and understand should never have been charged in the first place. The person who brought the charges against him is a liar in the highest order. For whatever motivation existed for this man, he made this terrible charge." Alston was charged back in August, but he's in the clear now. Skip To My Lou has been ripping things up this month, and the Rockets will keep leaning on him now that Yao Ming is done playing for the season.

Alston entered the game shooting under 40% for the season, so it was nice to see him a bit discerning when it came to hoisting up the rock. The result was 6-for-12 shooting, including three 3-pointers.
