Chris Mihm, who is recovering from right ankle surgery, is not expected to play this season, according to the LA Daily News. However, Mihm is holding out hope that he could play if the Lakers advance deep into the playoffs.

Chris Mihm will undergo surgery Monday to repair a ligament and tendon in his right ankle, a procedure that will likely keep him sidelined for most of the season, the AP reports. Mihm injured his ankle in a game against Seattle on March 12 and played just once the rest of last season. He had ankle surgery July 26 and missed training camp and all eight preseason games.

Chris Mihm flew to Baltimore on Wednesday to consult with a specialist after he continued to experience swelling and pain in his right ankle, according to the LA Times. Mihm has yet to play this season and missed 25 games last year after suffering the injury.

Chris Mihm, recovering from off-season surgery on his right ankle, will not be ready for the start of the season, according to the AP. "Chris won't be ready by opening night," Lakers spokesman John Black said on Thursday. "We really don't want to put a timetable on it other than to say it's going to be more than two weeks." Mihm averaged 10 points and six rebounds in 59 games with the Lakers last season.

Chris Mihm is recovering from offseason surgery on his right ankle well enough for him to do some running and participate in more basketball drills at practice Wednesday, according to the AP. Mihm said he was able to work up a sweat and looked forward to seeing how his ankle reacted overnight. "It's definitely progress," said Mihm, who played in only one game after injuring his ankle March 12 in a game against Seattle. "Like I've said, we kind of go day-by-day. We increased it a little more today, so we'll see how it reacts tomorrow."

Chris Mihm will undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove scar tissue from his right ankle, according to the L.A. Times. Mihm missed the final 17 games of the season as well as the first-round playoff series. "After four months, if you still have discomfort, there's something wrong," Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said.
