The Hornets sustained two injuries to their starting lineup on Friday night as Peja Stojakovic left the game with a strained groin and Morris Peterson went out with the same lower back strain that has been hampering him this week. Both players left in the first half of play.

Hornets guard Morris Peterson left Wednesday’s game against Detroit early in the second half with a strained lower back muscle, the AP reported. The extent of the injury was not reported.

Morris Peterson had his best night as a Hornet on Wednesday, putting up season highs with 27 points – including six three-pointers – six rebounds and two steals in nearly 34 minutes. It was only the fourth time Peterson reached double figures in points this season.

The Hornets have inked free agent Morris Peterson to a four-year deal. Financial terms of the contract weren't disclosed. Peterson was reduced to a bench role last season and averaged just 8.9 points. He should compete for a starting job in New Orleans.

The Cavs are very interested in signing free agent Morris Peterson. Peterson, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer source, is interested in playing for the Cavs because they are a "championship-caliber" team. He also wants to become a starter or get significant playing time. Peterson lost his starting job in Toronto this past season when he shot 35.9 percent from 3-point range and averaged 8.9 points.
